00:00.160 --> 00:01.765 You have been declared not guilty. 00:01.845 --> 00:03.671 All those who place their faith in Jesus. 00:04.000 --> 00:06.549 You're forever declared justified and not guilty. 00:06.960 --> 00:09.950 God calls you his son, his child. 00:10.222 --> 00:11.360 You are heirs of God. 00:11.500 --> 00:13.548 He's actually made you equal with himself. 00:13.860 --> 00:18.272 He's caused you to sit together in heavenly places in Christ. 00:18.680 --> 00:19.785 How did all this happen? 00:20.141 --> 00:21.245 You were bought. 00:21.800 --> 00:25.071 You needed perfect holy blood, and that's the high price. 00:26.300 --> 00:28.388 Welcome to the City Light Church podcast. 00:28.660 --> 00:34.950 Thanks for joining us today as we look into God's Word and discover the hope and truth that he has for us. 00:35.701 --> 00:40.448 If you want to connect with City Light Church, feel free to visit us at CityLightNYCcom. 00:41.460 --> 00:43.407 That's CityLightNYCcom. 00:44.780 --> 00:51.909 Pastor Boyan Jansik and his team believe that the power of the Holy Spirit is already working in our hearts and minds. 00:52.641 --> 01:02.417 As you listen to today's teaching, remember that you are deeply loved by God, that you are surrounded by his grace and that he has a real hope and a future for you. 01:05.843 --> 01:19.831 Sometimes you have to remind yourself that you're saved, in case you forgot, and how wonderful it is that the Lord brought you to him, that he softened your heart and opened your eyes. 01:21.286 --> 01:23.200 The Bible says that there's none that seek after God. 01:24.967 --> 01:30.380 That means we didn't seek him out of some innate holy curiosity that we had deep within ourselves. 01:31.200 --> 01:32.879 There's none that seeks after God. 01:34.424 --> 01:39.076 We're all, by nature, turning our backs on him and rebelling against him. 01:42.468 --> 01:58.867 But he came to you, he thought of you and he's the one who softened your heart, softened your heart, opened your eyes to his word, opened your eyes that you would understand that you have a need for a Savior, that you're in need of saving. 02:00.841 --> 02:09.751 He's the one who opened your mind to understand that salvation comes through the blood of Jesus, faith and his substitutionary death for you. 02:09.771 --> 02:13.760 Isn't that good news. 02:16.865 --> 02:20.551 When you remind yourself of these things, you realize just how special you are. 02:22.114 --> 02:22.895 I think about that. 02:23.620 --> 02:35.372 Jesus had some just really frightening things like straight and narrow is the way that leads to life everlasting. 02:37.161 --> 02:42.640 It's a narrow little street and broad is the highway. 02:42.640 --> 02:52.833 Broad is the way it's a broad way that leads to destruction, and many there be that go down that broad way. 02:55.284 --> 03:00.290 But he puts you on the straight and narrow and for that I'm eternally grateful. 03:00.410 --> 03:02.960 Amen, are you ready for the word this morning? 03:06.706 --> 03:12.736 It's not Christmas, but let's begin in Luke, chapter one, versus 26 through 38. 03:14.183 --> 03:24.792 I say it's not Christmas just because when I was preparing this message I felt like I had read this verse just a few months ago and probably I have, at least to myself, maybe right here from this pulpit. 03:26.184 --> 03:28.071 Usually we take it out during the Christmas season. 03:30.031 --> 03:30.800 It's when the angel visits Mary. 03:34.814 --> 03:36.680 Now, if you would just that that hand, that's, thank you. 03:38.163 --> 03:51.280 Now, in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph of the house of David. 03:53.345 --> 03:59.775 The virgin's name was Mary and, having come in, the angel said to her rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you. 04:02.391 --> 04:03.557 Blessed are you among women? 04:06.588 --> 04:15.573 And just note that that's the longest and most detailed description of Mary that we have in the Bible, that she was highly favored and blessed among women. 04:17.517 --> 04:17.978 Just saying. 04:20.648 --> 04:21.913 A lot more was added later. 04:21.933 --> 04:27.730 But she's highly favored because she was chosen to be the vessel through whom God and the flesh would come through, and that qualifies her. 04:27.750 --> 04:48.320 To be blessed among women Doesn't say anything about worshiping her or AKA venerating her or praying to her, but she's most blessed among women because Messiah came through her and when she saw this angel, she was troubled at his saying and considered what manner of greeting this was. 04:49.603 --> 04:53.280 Then the angel said to her do not be afraid, mary, for you have found favor with God. 04:53.280 --> 04:59.769 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a son and shall call his name Jesus. 04:59.829 --> 05:05.029 He will be great and will be called the son of the highest and the Lord. 05:05.049 --> 05:14.619 God will give him the throne of his father, david, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever and of his kingdom there will be no end. 05:14.942 --> 05:16.112 How many of you can agree? 05:16.132 --> 05:18.743 This is a lot right now For teenage Mary. 05:18.763 --> 05:19.707 She was a great man. 05:21.141 --> 05:22.987 She was a great man for teenage Mary. 05:24.240 --> 05:28.351 She's having an angelic visitation, not like from a Hallmark card. 05:30.560 --> 05:38.867 This is Gabriel, so we imagine he had some stature to him, the glory of the Lord radiating off of him. 05:42.080 --> 05:42.832 She wasn't expecting this. 05:43.280 --> 05:47.867 She just thought it was another night as usual, and she gets this news that she's the one chosen. 05:47.865 --> 05:48.914 She's the one chosen to be the one chosen. 05:48.912 --> 05:53.331 She's the one chosen to be the one chosen To supernaturally give birth to the Savior of man. 05:58.122 --> 05:59.440 My verse is a bouncing here. 05:59.520 --> 06:00.766 Did I read the one before that? 06:02.721 --> 06:04.467 Okay, verse 34, then Thank you. 06:05.000 --> 06:09.128 Then Mary said to the angel how can this be, since I do not know a man? 06:09.189 --> 06:13.408 How can this happen, since I haven't been physically intimate with anyone? 06:14.204 --> 06:19.988 And the angel answered and said to her the Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the highest will overshadow you. 06:21.003 --> 06:24.787 Therefore, also the Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. 06:26.101 --> 06:34.705 Now, indeed, elizabeth, your relative has also conceived the Son in her old age, and this is now the sixth month for her, who was called barren. 06:35.602 --> 06:37.980 For with God, nothing will be impossible. 06:38.301 --> 06:39.145 I love that verse. 06:39.480 --> 06:42.384 That's not a part of my message, that's a whole, separate message. 06:43.181 --> 06:47.011 But for God, with nothing will be impossible. 06:47.621 --> 06:58.066 When you really look at that verse the Hebrews excuse me their word for thing was word Because they believed words would become things. 06:58.547 --> 07:01.314 Word, word, word. 07:02.421 --> 07:12.547 I said their word for thing was word Because they believed that life and death are in the power of the tongue and that your words become things. 07:12.920 --> 07:23.049 So you can paraphrase that verse to say for with God, no thing, no spoken word of God will be impossible for him to perform. 07:23.500 --> 07:26.906 That means if you have a promise from God, you can take it to the bank. 07:27.460 --> 07:30.451 I've often said I can go through any challenge, any obstacle. 07:30.491 --> 07:41.627 I can do anything as long as I have God's word on the subject, as long as I can see it in the scripture, and he's reiterated to me in my spirit and he's commanded me to do something. 07:43.640 --> 07:49.985 In the very word of God is the power to fulfill the obligation that comes along with that word. 07:50.286 --> 07:57.870 Amen, for with God, no spoken thing, nothing, he tells you, will be impossible for him to perform. 07:57.940 --> 07:58.663 Verse 38,. 07:59.105 --> 08:02.686 Then Mary said behold the maid servant of the Lord. 08:05.820 --> 08:12.928 And here's a frightened teenage Mary who just got the text of all texts. 08:13.500 --> 08:15.206 What a bombshell of a news event. 08:16.720 --> 08:17.705 And here's what she says. 08:18.220 --> 08:24.247 Let it be to me according to your word, god's will be done. 08:24.420 --> 08:31.666 His word is his will, and this must have pleased the angel so much that he had nothing else to say, but it was on that note that he departed. 08:33.500 --> 08:40.085 The same angel, gabriel, visited her cousin, elizabeth, who gave birth to John the Baptist. 08:40.820 --> 08:52.906 He actually visited Zachariah, her husband, and he's just started mouthing off and kind of arguing with the angel and was filled with so much doubt and unbelief that the angel actually struck him to be mute. 08:55.240 --> 09:06.448 Like you're just spewing so much gibberish and you're going to mess this whole thing up, I got to cause you supernaturally to be quiet, but Mary had the right response. 09:06.800 --> 09:09.809 Be it unto me, according to your word. 09:10.380 --> 09:16.007 And so I have a question to ask you Whatever happened to the will of God? 09:16.920 --> 09:24.886 Here you have a submitted Mary, a Mary who prizes the will of God, and this is when I think of Mary. 09:24.987 --> 09:28.508 This is the statement I most closely associate with her life. 09:29.040 --> 09:32.310 Let it be to me, according to your word. 09:32.640 --> 10:00.270 When I was waiting on the Lord asking him for word for you this Sunday, I actually had the thought if I could, if this was my last Sunday, if I could leave the church with just one last sermon, what would it be, and it's this to bend the knee to Jesus, to surrender to his will, to fully receive the Lordship of Christ in your life. 10:01.881 --> 10:10.211 Not 50%, not 80%, but 100%, because if he's not Lord of all, he's not Lord at all. 10:11.301 --> 10:13.909 And he's asking us for everything. 10:14.741 --> 10:28.608 It's a fair request, since the Bible says that we've been purchased with a very high price, with the precious blood of Jesus, and he's given us his all and just the time, the time for games. 10:28.720 --> 10:32.164 It was never a good time for games with the Lord, but now more than ever. 10:34.020 --> 10:35.486 I'm sorry, I just got PTSD. 10:35.506 --> 10:36.369 Covid flashback. 10:36.740 --> 10:41.465 You know how, when COVID started, everything was now more than ever, right now more than ever. 10:42.001 --> 10:44.543 I understand, I get it, but really now more than ever. 10:49.720 --> 10:52.450 Let me just go to Philippians, 3.17 through 19,. 10:52.540 --> 10:56.425 Because it shows Paul warns of a people that are the exact opposite of this. 10:58.640 --> 11:06.471 Brethren, join in, following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern. 11:07.000 --> 11:14.050 Paul says note those, note those who walk in the faith, and it's good to always have people in the body of Christ that you look up to. 11:14.180 --> 11:15.486 He doesn't just have to be in leadership. 11:15.880 --> 11:19.422 There's always a time when I have a group of people that I'm just like. 11:19.483 --> 11:22.524 I love how that person walks in love and how kind they are. 11:22.980 --> 11:23.623 I want to note them. 11:24.380 --> 11:25.224 I want to emulate them. 11:25.880 --> 11:27.165 I like how that person prays. 11:27.680 --> 11:30.329 They have obviously very passionate, fiery prayer life. 11:30.900 --> 11:31.362 I note them. 11:32.280 --> 11:35.268 That person seems to always be walking in faith. 11:36.900 --> 11:37.824 They're taking risks. 11:38.900 --> 11:41.365 Their faith is an active faith, it's not a dormant faith. 11:41.480 --> 11:41.942 I note them. 11:43.280 --> 11:59.008 He says you have us for a pattern Verse 18, for many walk of whom I have told you often, and now tell you, even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ. 11:59.760 --> 12:08.869 And then he describes what an enemy of the cross of Christ is, whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly. 12:10.700 --> 12:12.967 This doesn't mean that they're gluttonous and they eat a lot. 12:14.260 --> 12:25.108 This means that they have traded the authority of God's word, traded submitting to the Lordship of Christ to whatever their own personal appetites are. 12:26.200 --> 12:27.626 And the warning here is dire. 12:28.260 --> 12:31.710 And once again, I know this is eternal scripture. 12:32.220 --> 12:33.887 This was written 2,000 years ago. 12:34.060 --> 12:39.363 It was true back then, but I dare say that it's even truittier today, more than ever. 12:39.824 --> 12:44.430 Now more than ever, in a time where people are telling you that 2 plus 2 equals 5. 12:44.941 --> 13:12.150 Now, when a culture is being so corrupted and that which is evil is being passed by as that which is good, and that which is good is being passed for that which is evil, it is a time to submit to the Lord, to really, truly surrender to his Lordship and say Lord, I just want you, I just want your will, I'll do whatever you want me to do, knowing that whatever he asks you to do, there will be a grace on you to do what he's asking you to do. 13:12.401 --> 13:12.743 Amen. 13:13.500 --> 13:19.960 He's not unfair that way where he'll require something of you and then hold back the power to fulfill the need and the obligation. 13:20.100 --> 13:20.382 Amen. 13:21.840 --> 13:28.488 He says that God is their belly, whose glory is in their shame who set their mind on earthly things. 13:30.320 --> 13:33.769 May our church be a church that's fully surrendered to Jesus. 13:34.840 --> 13:35.562 Hallelujah. 13:38.320 --> 13:51.031 May the Holy Spirit come now and do a deep work in our hearts and make any adjustments that are necessary, and may you be soft-hearted so that you can say yes to Jesus. 13:52.240 --> 13:52.923 Hallelujah. 13:54.760 --> 13:59.705 Mary learned such a powerful lesson when that angel visited her. 14:00.720 --> 14:04.550 John 2, verses 1 through 5, it shows what her life attitude was. 14:05.800 --> 14:19.750 I was reminiscing last night with Emily, as we were discussing the Lordship of Christ and we just talked about all the times where it wasn't easy to say yes to the Lord, but we said yes anyhow, and how that always worked out. 14:19.800 --> 14:30.589 And she just reminded me of how I went to Liberia in the summer of 2014, when Victor was just a couple of months old and Liberia was in the middle of the Ebola epidemic. 14:33.320 --> 14:34.683 I couldn't even get into Liberia. 14:34.784 --> 14:40.425 Only two flights a week were going to Liberia and one of them was from Casablanca. 14:42.302 --> 14:43.868 I remember getting excited about that. 14:44.040 --> 14:58.346 I thought when would I ever go to Casablanca so romantic Except when you land in Casablanca and you realize it's not the movie and all the buildings are brown and gray and everything you eat is weird. 14:58.680 --> 15:03.314 And you're just waiting for that one flight to take you to where you're supposed to be, which is Monrovia, liberia. 15:03.641 --> 15:06.807 Amen, you can cross Casablanca. 15:07.440 --> 15:08.162 It's just side note. 15:08.181 --> 15:10.266 You can cross Casablanca off your bucket list. 15:14.861 --> 15:15.705 It wasn't all that. 15:21.725 --> 15:28.826 No, sam's bar, no, nothing, just people doing their laundry in place like this in a bucket. 15:30.190 --> 15:36.573 Really, I'm like I can see that back in my own home country. 15:36.700 --> 15:40.209 I don't need to come to go up a little bit into the mountains. 15:41.620 --> 15:42.242 It's the whirlpool. 15:44.300 --> 15:46.291 But I landed there and he had arranged. 15:46.632 --> 15:50.389 The ministry we were supporting had arranged for somebody from the military to pick me up so I can get in. 15:50.480 --> 15:52.145 I remember asking how much should I give them? 15:52.927 --> 15:54.751 How do you know what's a good bribe? 15:54.980 --> 15:57.328 I mean gift for somebody you never know. 15:57.961 --> 15:59.929 He said, brother, $100 is plenty. 16:00.080 --> 16:02.202 I'm like, oh, great Discount rate. 16:04.181 --> 16:10.766 And I spent 10 days there ministering in the largest churches in Monrovia, liberia, being able to meet government officials. 16:11.280 --> 16:17.387 Thousands of people came out to hear who's the one crazy American who would come to minister and encourage us in the middle of Ebola. 16:17.860 --> 16:20.990 And because of City Light Church we were able to purchase a Toyota truck. 16:21.240 --> 16:25.431 I have to say Toyota because that's like a G-wagon here A Toyota. 16:25.620 --> 16:26.946 Toyota is indestructible. 16:27.060 --> 16:34.045 We purchased a Toyota truck for the ministry there, gave away laptops to the ministry there and had an incredibly fruitful week. 16:35.220 --> 16:41.287 But it happened because I said yes, amen, and really you reminded me of that. 16:41.307 --> 16:50.528 But I never thought of that as a difficult decision and it wasn't like I was struggling with the Lord, because when you're in the Lord's will, you realize that's the safest place for you to be. 16:51.220 --> 16:52.744 We had to go and wash our hands everywhere. 16:52.784 --> 17:03.587 We went in a mixture of bleach and water and everybody was terrified, but the whole time I'm just happy, I'm smiling, I feel like I'm in a bubble of His goodness and grace. 17:03.940 --> 17:04.864 I feel untouchable. 17:05.260 --> 17:17.452 The safest place for us, for any of you, is knowing that you're not outside of the will of God, not rebelling against Him, not doing things as it seems right to you. 17:18.100 --> 17:24.984 The Bible when describing a rebellious people, it talks about those who do whatever is right in their own eyes. 17:29.247 --> 17:42.724 I don't want to be that person, and when you read the Old Testament, which is written as an example to us, there's a phrase that's often used with the rebellious people and that's stiff-necked. 17:43.820 --> 17:45.946 You ever have that inflexible friend. 17:47.940 --> 17:50.448 They always—I hope I don't get husbands and wives in trouble. 17:50.668 --> 17:52.925 This morning we came to church, we walked out fighting. 17:54.420 --> 18:05.066 They always got to meet at the same place and used to just the place, and I can tell we're going to this place and it's got to be the time that's good for them, the day that's good for them, and it's like that every single time. 18:07.240 --> 18:07.863 That's what God said. 18:08.104 --> 18:10.536 The people who rebel against Him are like. 18:10.857 --> 18:11.962 They're not flexing, flexible. 18:13.820 --> 18:21.704 They don't mold them and conform themselves to Him, but they expect God to mold and conform Himself to them. 18:22.300 --> 18:36.253 And that's one of the biggest problems right now in the culture of the countries that people are making God and turning Him into their own image, changing the Scriptures, twisting the truth of God's Word to suit their own belly. 18:36.333 --> 18:47.351 Their God is their belly, their own appetites, no matter how wild they are, changing the goodness and the truth and the glory of God to really do whatever is right in their own eyes. 18:48.020 --> 18:50.687 And the Bible says their way and their end is a destruction. 18:52.660 --> 18:53.604 I have one soul. 18:54.240 --> 18:55.887 I'm frankly I'm jealous for it. 18:56.742 --> 18:58.589 It's not a video game where you get to do over. 18:58.700 --> 18:59.584 I have one soul. 19:00.081 --> 19:03.780 I want to finish well, amen, I'm saved. 19:04.522 --> 19:15.951 I'm saved by grace, not because of anything good that I do, and I stay saved by continually staying in the faith and looking to Jesus and His righteousness to be imparted to me. 19:16.940 --> 19:35.828 And I have a job and I see every single one of you of the same mind, firmly rooted and grounded in Him, and not playing that hokey pokey with the Lord with one foot in and one foot out and playing games, but saying Lord, I am yours, you are mine, whatever you tell me to do, I'll do it. 19:36.200 --> 19:38.481 I'll have instant obedience, amen. 19:40.600 --> 19:44.781 That is maturity in Christ John. 19:46.406 --> 19:57.607 At the wedding feast Now both Jesus, chapter two, verse one and the third day, there was a wedding in Canaan of Galilee and the mother of Jesus was there. 19:58.620 --> 20:06.427 Now, both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding and when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him they have no wine. 20:08.180 --> 20:20.402 Jesus said to her woman which some preachers read woman and really makes Jesus sound so harsh right Woman to his own mother, woman. 20:20.422 --> 20:22.628 What does your concern have to do with me? 20:22.688 --> 20:23.471 Keep that verse up. 20:23.840 --> 20:24.925 Let me just talk about this for a second. 20:25.520 --> 20:26.905 My hour has not yet come. 20:27.920 --> 20:30.228 I just want to talk about what a sexist Jesus was. 20:31.402 --> 20:33.129 No, actually the exact opposite. 20:33.180 --> 20:40.424 He was the one who broke social norms all the time and invited women to participate in the spreading of the gospel. 20:41.962 --> 20:45.311 But this is actually Jesus being playful and doing a twist on words. 20:45.860 --> 20:48.028 She's saying, hey, they have no wine. 20:48.381 --> 20:49.123 Now, what's wine? 20:49.163 --> 20:52.225 A symbol of the Holy Spirit. 20:53.180 --> 20:54.384 And he's playing where there's no. 20:54.404 --> 20:58.908 She had said they don't have the Holy Spirit and he says, hey, what does this have to do with me? 20:59.440 --> 21:01.908 My time, my hour, has not yet come. 21:02.620 --> 21:05.307 Every single time, jesus talks about his hour. 21:05.728 --> 21:06.731 What is he talking about? 21:07.060 --> 21:08.708 The crucifixion and the resurrection. 21:09.100 --> 21:20.390 It was only after the crucifixion and the resurrection that the Holy Spirit was able to come then, on the day of Pentecost, and be given as a gift to the entire world, to whoever would call upon the name of Jesus and receive amen. 21:21.564 --> 21:22.788 This is a beautiful Jesus. 21:23.220 --> 21:28.911 She's saying they have no wine and he's essentially saying the wine is coming, but my hour has not yet come. 21:29.300 --> 21:31.957 But just hang around in the ministry for a few more years and you'll see. 21:31.998 --> 21:37.106 When I get crucified and I'm raised from the dead, it's going to be new wine for everybody. 21:37.186 --> 21:40.141 Amen, verse five. 21:41.243 --> 21:45.571 His mother said but she got the joke, by the way, because she didn't go. 21:45.671 --> 21:49.026 Boy, you talked that way to me at a wedding in public. 21:50.540 --> 22:05.274 She got the wink and then she turns to the servants and says she's essentially imparting her own heart of submission and her bending the knee to the Lordship of Christ to the servants. 22:06.001 --> 22:08.931 They're saying whatever he says to you, do it. 22:10.340 --> 22:12.627 Whatever he says to you, do it. 22:13.700 --> 22:16.489 If you were to hear Mary talk today, you know what she would say. 22:16.660 --> 22:22.082 She would point to Jesus and say whatever he says to you, do it, hallelujah. 22:23.340 --> 22:31.323 And, by the way, what he said was gather some stone pots, six to be exact. 22:32.620 --> 22:33.482 Now you just read that. 22:33.782 --> 22:38.252 You think stone pitcher like a gallon jug of milk, but the Bible is clear. 22:38.980 --> 22:41.808 Each pot held 20 to 30 gallons. 22:43.922 --> 22:46.229 He said gather the stone pots, fill them with water. 22:46.740 --> 22:48.847 You know, the servants were like why are we doing this? 22:50.120 --> 22:52.267 Because you didn't just turn on the garden hose and fill them up. 22:52.860 --> 22:56.266 You had to now go fetch the water 20 to 30 gallons. 22:56.681 --> 22:58.465 Let's use the low end 20 gallons. 22:58.786 --> 23:00.391 Time six, 120 gallons. 23:00.820 --> 23:05.265 This was a lot of work and it didn't make sense in the natural mind. 23:05.325 --> 23:06.308 Why are we doing this? 23:06.569 --> 23:06.890 I don't know. 23:07.440 --> 23:08.453 She just said whatever he says, do it. 23:09.040 --> 23:18.503 And he didn't even have a reputation then, because this is the very first miracle that he worked, which please note also that of all the miracles Jesus could have chosen to be his first. 23:18.844 --> 23:35.968 It was a miracle of provision that he chose, just winking at us, just letting us know that I, first of all, I'm the God of parties and I'm the God of provision and abundance, and with me there will never be lack, amen. 23:36.941 --> 23:38.426 But they had a decision to make. 23:38.667 --> 23:39.349 Do we stop? 23:39.700 --> 23:43.751 Because why are we just fetching water, something about wine? 23:44.400 --> 23:44.862 And is he? 23:45.003 --> 23:45.946 What's he trying to do? 23:46.380 --> 23:47.685 But they just had to obey. 23:48.820 --> 23:52.931 Whatever he says to you to do, do it, hallelujah. 23:53.340 --> 24:06.490 This is why, by the way, city Light Church exists, because people gathered around me who were willing to say okay, whatever he says to us, he'll do, because it made no sense in the natural at all. 24:06.940 --> 24:12.241 I could barely tie my own shoes at age 26 when I decided to launch and plant City Light Church. 24:12.742 --> 24:15.391 Yet now, 22 plus years, 22 years, can you believe it? 24:15.500 --> 24:16.244 In a couple of weeks? 24:16.827 --> 24:19.460 Amen, hallelujah. 24:21.786 --> 24:23.130 And it made no sense. 24:24.120 --> 24:29.462 But there is a reward to obedience, a great reward, amen. 24:30.540 --> 24:36.232 I want to read 1 Samuel, chapter 15, verses 20 through 26. 24:37.120 --> 24:53.546 Going back into the Old Testament, king Saul, he was giving some explicit instructions by the Lord through the prophet Samuel and he was about 85% obedient. 24:57.300 --> 25:07.511 And Saul said to Samuel but I have obeyed the voice of the Lord and gone on the mission on which the Lord sent me and brought back Agag, king of Amalek. 25:08.360 --> 25:13.907 I have utterly destroyed the Amalekites, but the people took of the plunder. 25:14.140 --> 25:15.484 Now, he wasn't supposed to do that. 25:18.100 --> 25:19.685 They took of the sheep and oxen. 25:21.220 --> 25:33.383 Some things were just too luxury and too good to burn down the best of the things, which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice to the Lord, your God and Gilgal. 25:33.743 --> 25:40.307 He said we didn't want to destroy these things, but we took these great things so we could sacrifice. 25:40.500 --> 25:41.364 Now there's a problem here. 25:41.540 --> 25:42.785 He wasn't supposed to do that. 25:43.180 --> 25:44.144 He's anointed as king. 25:44.600 --> 25:47.689 He has a mandate to be a king, not a priest. 25:48.740 --> 25:50.587 He stepped outside of his boundaries. 25:50.780 --> 25:52.246 He stepped outside of his mantle. 25:52.340 --> 25:55.307 The mantle was on the priest to offer sacrifices, not the king. 25:57.220 --> 25:57.801 Verse 22,. 25:58.362 --> 26:07.564 So Samuel said has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the Lord? 26:08.205 --> 26:12.532 Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice. 26:13.700 --> 26:14.781 Many of you have heard this verse. 26:17.740 --> 26:18.341 You know what it means. 26:18.421 --> 26:26.058 Under an old covenant he's literally talking about obeying is better than sacrificing when it's not your job to sacrifice. 26:26.486 --> 26:43.097 But today that could mean it is better to obey, obey the voice of the Lord than any other external religious work that you can present to him, even if it seems like a good external religious work, like coming to church every Sunday. 26:43.367 --> 26:46.565 He would much rather have your heart, the fullness of your heart. 26:47.026 --> 26:50.677 Then you will not only come to church each Sunday, but he'll have your entire heart. 26:51.447 --> 26:52.210 There are some people. 26:52.251 --> 26:55.165 They make a decision to tie this like payoff money for God. 26:55.646 --> 27:01.912 They give him a tenth of all their income and they feel that then they can do whatever they want because they send protection money up to heaven. 27:01.932 --> 27:04.830 They're gonna be okay, people who pray. 27:05.666 --> 27:11.719 But God is after your obedience, first, your whole heart, you to say yes to whatever he asks of you. 27:14.130 --> 27:15.625 And why am I preaching all this today? 27:16.587 --> 27:17.169 Because I do. 27:17.630 --> 27:20.838 I believe that the challenge to say yes to him is only gonna increase. 27:26.106 --> 27:30.133 We're gonna watch old shows and go wow, that was. 27:30.293 --> 27:32.437 We thought it was tough to be a Christian back then. 27:32.958 --> 27:34.040 It was actually so easy. 27:37.686 --> 27:38.649 I mean, everyone thought I was. 27:38.830 --> 27:43.185 I was crazy 30 years ago for being a Christian, but today they think I'm utterly insane. 27:44.508 --> 27:49.198 They don't even know they're constantly being programmed with an anti-Christian sentiment. 27:51.726 --> 27:53.751 Being a pastor in New York City was never popular. 27:54.152 --> 27:55.295 That one of the worst questions I hate. 27:55.315 --> 27:56.297 When someone asked me what do you do? 27:57.486 --> 28:00.195 Because I know I've done it already hundreds of times what do you do? 28:00.215 --> 28:07.470 I Give away life insurance for free. 28:07.731 --> 28:10.929 No, I tell him, I'm a pastor, I'm a pastor. 28:10.949 --> 28:16.908 Tell him, and then you can just see, though, because they don't really know what they're Trying to find. 28:17.008 --> 28:24.352 What compartment to put you in the head is spinning and it's never, ever good and you, it's never, ever. 28:25.366 --> 28:26.230 Do you meet someone who? 28:26.912 --> 28:27.494 I'm a pastor? 28:27.574 --> 28:29.287 Oh you. 28:34.547 --> 28:40.731 And now there's such an anti-Christian sentiment and a temptation to hide your Christianity. 28:40.791 --> 28:46.855 Don't do it and attempt and attempt to Change the truth of God's word in order to fit in. 28:47.927 --> 28:48.469 Don't do it. 28:48.489 --> 28:59.589 I Mean it would seem crazy just a few years ago to suggest this, but now it's not crazy that one day, what you believe will be labeled intolerant hate speech? 29:01.427 --> 29:04.052 Because Jesus said something not very tolerant. 29:04.693 --> 29:07.599 He said I am the way, the truth and the life. 29:08.527 --> 29:11.469 No one can come to the father except through me. 29:13.626 --> 29:14.630 That's not very tolerant. 29:17.926 --> 29:27.352 Jesus said there is no other way to heaven except through me, because I am the only one who's going to give his life in exchange for yours. 29:27.753 --> 29:39.995 My clean and perfect life Will be punished as though you were me, and your sin will be punished in me, and I will, with my own holy blood, purchase your salvation. 29:40.356 --> 29:45.192 That's why, look, if there was another way or other ways, then Jesus died in vain. 29:46.146 --> 29:56.136 Jesus would have stayed in heaven and said look, if being a nice person and playing with crystals Could get the job done, he'd be still with the father. 29:56.176 --> 29:57.398 Go and let him have at it. 29:58.367 --> 30:03.508 But he did what he had to do Because he had to do it, amen. 30:05.106 --> 30:29.847 So can you imagine and I can the way culture is going, where it's just labeled that to believe in John 3 16 or to believe in John 14 6, where Jesus I am the way that that really just is too triggering for too many people and really hurts their feelings and Makes them feel like they're on the outside, and that's not nice when people don't feel great about themselves all the time 24-7. 30:30.368 --> 30:32.616 And so therefore, john 14 6 is hate speech. 30:37.787 --> 30:39.533 Nah, not here, not in America. 30:42.793 --> 30:47.731 But I'm preaching to city light as though that they may come, because I don't want that day to surprise us. 30:47.911 --> 30:53.624 And we have a bunch of weak Christians who are terrified of the world and terrified about taking a stand. 30:53.644 --> 30:56.150 And Let God be true. 30:56.231 --> 31:00.507 The Bible says in every man a liar Hallelujah. 31:03.810 --> 31:10.194 And the people in your life you would compromise the word of God for you have yet to learn they don't care about you at all. 31:10.254 --> 31:22.370 Anyway, it's true, jesus will always be there for you, but to care what people think? 31:23.895 --> 31:27.732 People, these are the people in the Bible. 31:29.469 --> 31:38.449 On Sunday they said Hosanna, hosanna, and they greeted Jesus with palm, palm leaves and King of kings and Lord of lords. 31:38.549 --> 31:40.314 By Friday they were shouting crucify him. 31:41.136 --> 31:43.668 That's people In the book of Acts. 31:44.351 --> 31:46.216 He didn't even take five days, took one day. 31:48.386 --> 31:56.300 Paul and Barnabas were preaching so good that they said the gods have come to us in the forms of men. 31:57.786 --> 31:58.590 That's a super fan. 31:58.610 --> 32:03.136 Right there the next day they picked up stones and stone them. 32:04.026 --> 32:11.909 That's how quickly human emotions will turn from loving you to hating you, and some of us live an absolute fear of what people will say. 32:12.049 --> 32:12.912 What people will think. 32:13.514 --> 32:14.416 They really don't think. 32:15.507 --> 32:17.879 They're too busy thinking of themselves to think anything about you. 32:17.919 --> 32:25.634 You think they're thinking about you, but that's only because you're the main character in your own movie, but they're not thinking about you. 32:26.876 --> 32:28.199 They're wondering what you're thinking about them. 32:34.806 --> 32:51.119 To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams, for rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. 32:53.247 --> 33:09.249 Now listen to this Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, because you weren't obedient to King Saul, he also has rejected you from being king and this is where the anointing the mantle of the king was stripped from Saul. 33:10.426 --> 33:13.753 This happened to be an example unto us now, thankfully. 33:13.813 --> 33:18.774 But we can fall and the blood of Jesus is still on us and we can get right back up again. 33:19.155 --> 33:20.883 But this should still serve as a warning. 33:21.285 --> 33:29.879 Now I'm not gonna lose my salvation through one act of disobedience, but there are things in the natural that if I just do whatever is right in my own eyes, I will mess up. 33:30.720 --> 33:31.586 I Can. 33:31.687 --> 33:40.388 I can hurt my relationship with my wife or with people who are close to me, or with the church through one act of rebellion, one act of disobedience. 33:40.408 --> 33:44.278 They could hurt it, cripple it for years, maybe forever, on this side of heaven. 33:45.726 --> 34:09.577 So to walk in wisdom and there should be a healthy amount of the fear of the Lord it's like we have to be broad enough in our thinking to both understand that he loves us and we're the apple of his eye and at the same time I Walk around the things of God with fear and trembling Because I know, left up to my own devices, I will make a mess so quickly. 34:10.687 --> 34:17.887 So, lord, I walk in the fear of the Lord, hallelujah, hallelujah. 34:18.027 --> 34:20.375 First Corinthians 620. 34:20.395 --> 34:21.740 Oh, did we finish that out? 34:21.820 --> 34:23.145 Okay, let's go to first Corinthians. 34:25.186 --> 34:26.107 We had two more verses. 34:26.147 --> 34:27.808 Let's read them now. 34:27.828 --> 34:29.349 Therefore, please pardon my sin. 34:29.449 --> 34:39.656 Verse 25, oh, verse 24, you were right, I have sinned, for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord, in your words, because I fear oh yeah, I fear the people. 34:41.030 --> 34:41.974 Why did he do it? 34:43.010 --> 34:44.997 Because of everything we just already talked about. 34:46.751 --> 34:49.580 He didn't submit and fully obey the voice of the Lord. 34:49.650 --> 34:54.518 He did a nice 85% partial obedience, which always comes out to be total disobedience. 34:55.170 --> 35:01.079 And he actually reveals the root of why he did this thing he feared the people and obeyed their voice. 35:04.703 --> 35:12.956 What a weird dance we have to dance as Christians, where we are to love people and then, at the same time, absolutely not care what they think about us at all. 35:14.492 --> 35:15.797 Seems a little one-sided huh. 35:16.471 --> 35:18.578 Only through Christ can we have that kind of grace. 35:19.813 --> 35:28.597 I really love you, not in a closed way, but I give my heart to you, and if you slap me in the face, I'm like, ah, I can't take it personally. 35:29.299 --> 35:30.021 How do you do that? 35:30.070 --> 35:36.532 You only do it if you're receiving mega doses of the love of God through prayer and worship every single day, hallelujah. 35:38.070 --> 35:42.114 Now, therefore, please pardon my sin and return with me that I may worship the Lord. 35:43.451 --> 35:53.070 But Samuel said to Saul I will not return with you, for you have rejected the word of the Lord and the Lord has rejected you from being king over Israel. 35:53.795 --> 35:56.070 Everyone say this obedience is better than sacrifice. 35:58.338 --> 36:02.070 Obedience is better than external religiosity. 36:03.576 --> 36:05.737 Ha All right. 36:11.294 --> 36:12.699 1 Corinthians 620. 36:16.792 --> 36:24.262 In the NLT, for God bought you with a high price. 36:26.075 --> 36:32.197 When this is real to you, when this is real to you, then you realize you have been bought. 36:34.574 --> 36:39.317 The whole reason you know that you'll be in heaven forever with him. 36:40.393 --> 36:49.206 The whole reason you know that all of your sins are completely forgiven you and that there is therefore now no condemnation for you. 36:49.507 --> 36:50.070 Do you understand? 36:50.636 --> 36:54.070 You have been declared not guilty, all those who've placed their faith in Jesus. 36:54.471 --> 36:57.020 You're forever declared justified and not guilty. 36:57.432 --> 37:00.070 God calls you his son, his child. 37:00.692 --> 37:01.937 You are heirs of God. 37:02.070 --> 37:04.018 He's actually made you equal with himself. 37:04.333 --> 37:08.784 He's caused you to sit together in heavenly places in Christ. 37:09.145 --> 37:10.070 How did all this happen? 37:10.612 --> 37:11.717 You were bought. 37:12.271 --> 37:17.460 You needed perfect holy blood, and that's the high price that the Bible speaks about. 37:18.231 --> 37:19.174 I'm not my own. 37:20.170 --> 37:21.978 That's actually where my confidence comes from. 37:22.090 --> 37:24.358 To face the future, to think of eternity. 37:25.511 --> 37:28.822 Do you ever have a moment where you think this might be it? 37:28.843 --> 37:38.715 I've got to admit I've had a couple of those on an airplane where you actually think, where you start to think like, like you're really confronted with eternity. 37:41.514 --> 37:43.030 It was actually a plane ride to Ethiopia. 37:43.535 --> 37:46.837 I mean, it was like a giant took the plane and was just going like this with it. 37:48.093 --> 37:49.699 The plane kept getting hit with lightning. 37:50.371 --> 37:51.635 You see that sometimes on video. 37:53.813 --> 37:58.070 It was like you don't know it, back in the 80s, the original Twilight Zone movie with the Gremlin on the plane. 37:58.472 --> 37:59.215 That's what it felt like. 38:00.916 --> 38:08.706 And I'm going to Ethiopia and I remember someone from our church probably watching right now donated her miles. 38:10.097 --> 38:12.070 She said, since you're going to Ethiopia, you're going to fly first class. 38:12.431 --> 38:17.727 I was like praise the Lord, okay, the Ethiopian era or whatever. 38:17.747 --> 38:19.777 The first class was not what you might think. 38:20.411 --> 38:24.719 I just wanted it had these instead of an actual. 38:25.070 --> 38:39.365 It was a regular chair with metal stirrups for my feet and the whole thing is jingling and jangling and then the metal stirrups pop out, come undone, and I'm being shaken and in those moments you're like Lord, maybe this is the time. 38:39.385 --> 38:40.010 I was single at the time. 38:40.797 --> 38:41.929 No children, emily had not. 38:42.170 --> 38:49.879 And you just go into your hands, lord, I commit my spirit and here I am. 38:50.280 --> 38:50.782 We made it. 38:51.531 --> 38:51.772 But. 38:52.214 --> 39:00.010 But I go back to that moment and I think, lord, I'm pretty happy with the lack of panic I had. 39:00.672 --> 39:03.359 There was a confidence there, there was a strength. 39:03.460 --> 39:03.680 Why? 39:04.070 --> 39:05.536 Because I know I've been bought. 39:06.634 --> 39:11.050 I've been purchased at a high price With the blood of Jesus. 39:11.913 --> 39:16.070 I'm forever His To be absent in the bodies, to be present with the Lord. 39:16.592 --> 39:18.974 If anything happened, I just huh. 39:21.802 --> 39:23.070 And anybody who even steps foot in heaven. 39:24.115 --> 39:25.181 They never want to go back. 39:25.542 --> 39:33.949 Even the accounts, whether you believe in them or not, of those who made it back there was like no, but your mission is not yet finished, don't send me back. 39:35.100 --> 39:36.050 It's too awesome here. 39:36.211 --> 39:41.757 Oh hallelujah, luke 646. 39:49.222 --> 39:50.785 Jesus here asked a good question. 39:54.799 --> 40:04.358 Hey, just know this it is really weird and intellectually dishonest if you think you're kinder than Jesus. 40:05.431 --> 40:13.010 Jesus is God and he's truth incarnate. 40:15.600 --> 40:17.729 And some of the things he said were pretty divisive. 40:17.749 --> 40:18.070 You say prove it. 40:19.262 --> 40:20.050 Well, they crucified Him. 40:20.211 --> 40:21.282 They didn't do that for nothing. 40:22.656 --> 40:24.050 They did that because he was a troublemaker. 40:24.271 --> 40:31.371 They didn't like the things he said and there's a lot of weird teachings that are not true, they said. 40:33.864 --> 40:43.070 And there's a lot of weird teaching going around right now where people they take this false pride in making themselves out to be more compassionate and kinder than Jesus. 40:43.614 --> 40:44.278 They're not. 40:45.728 --> 40:46.070 They're not kind. 40:46.330 --> 40:47.813 You can't be kinder than Jesus. 40:53.331 --> 40:57.276 When you speak the truth, even in love, it sometimes stings. 40:57.939 --> 41:00.050 Those of you who are married, you know what I'm talking about. 41:00.999 --> 41:02.070 My wife, very loving, very gentle. 41:03.181 --> 41:09.473 Sometimes she speaks the truth and it's like ow, thank you for that. 41:14.853 --> 41:23.012 He asks a question why do you call me Lord, lord, and do not do the things which I say? 41:30.201 --> 41:32.927 Why do you call me Lord, lord, and do not do the things which I say? 41:34.135 --> 41:39.167 Whoever comes to me and hears my sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like. 41:39.375 --> 41:42.601 So he's saying there's two kinds of people he's going to present to you two kinds of people. 41:43.355 --> 41:46.082 One, someone who actually receives Jesus as Lord. 41:47.615 --> 41:51.543 Everybody wants him a savior, but he's got to be Lord and savior. 41:54.335 --> 42:00.100 A man who receives Jesus as Lord and actually will submit and I get it some things. 42:00.355 --> 42:13.582 Hey, I hope I have never ever preached to you from an angle or a standpoint where it comes across as I have arrived, be like me, behold the perfection of the Lord, god. 42:15.898 --> 42:17.885 I have shared my struggles with you. 42:19.237 --> 42:33.087 I have every single season, every single day, I have to give myself a fresh to the Lord and I'll present myself a fresh and make sure that his Lordship is in every area of my life. 42:33.435 --> 42:35.742 And there are sometimes where I struggle. 42:37.535 --> 42:50.940 There are sometimes where he presents a plan to me, a direction he wants me to go down, and I'm like I don't trust him, even though he's only been good to me, and there's a few parts where some bad things happen. 42:50.960 --> 42:54.680 But every one of those bad parts, you know what I can directly do. 42:54.815 --> 43:05.783 I can directly trace those bad seasons to something I did in a stiff-necked way, every single time, but still being human. 43:06.325 --> 43:20.967 He'll ask me to step out in faith and do something and I'm like, secretly, I'm thinking this is one of those times right where you ask me to do X, y, z, but really I just end up in the wilderness for 40 years and it's going to be some great story and some great testimony later, but I don't want it right now. 43:21.015 --> 43:21.637 It's going to hurt. 43:24.515 --> 43:30.759 Lord, I can see the promised land, I'm going, I'm taking the express train and you're asking me to, is that you got to trust me. 43:30.799 --> 43:33.078 Go this way, that way, no, but Lord, just let me. 43:35.535 --> 43:36.378 I do what I want to do. 43:36.539 --> 43:37.100 Always pain. 43:38.595 --> 43:42.506 Do it the Lord's way Much better. 43:42.855 --> 43:44.942 Tried my way, tried his way, his way is better. 43:45.535 --> 43:49.424 But even if you have to wrestle with the Lord, roll around on your carpet. 43:50.935 --> 43:55.846 This is metaphorical, by the way, but there are times where I'm rolling around on the carpet. 43:56.186 --> 43:57.128 I don't start that way. 43:57.155 --> 44:00.285 I start very demure, praying on my knees. 44:00.355 --> 44:04.702 The next thing, I'm like oh Lord, why are you asking me to? 44:04.722 --> 44:06.184 Because I don't really. 44:10.675 --> 44:12.080 Some of you know what I'm talking about. 44:12.955 --> 44:16.205 Next thing, you know you're doing cartwheels 40, you're wrestling with the Lord. 44:16.355 --> 44:22.619 You're like Lord, I want to do your will, but a lot of me doesn't Deal with me right now. 44:23.935 --> 44:26.443 That's okay, that's good. 44:27.296 --> 44:30.004 That's why we have that whole example of Jacob wrestling with God. 44:30.595 --> 44:33.624 And when God was done with him, his hip was thrown out of alignment. 44:34.095 --> 44:44.864 So Jacob with no longer have to lean on himself and his own cunning, craftiness and his own earthly wisdom, but now he would have to use the Lord, his God, as his crutch. 44:46.347 --> 45:03.730 Hallelujah, because the Lord is working on some of you right now and what I'm asking you to do is to submit every area of your life to the Lord. 45:04.135 --> 45:10.561 And for some that's scary, because if you were really to give it all to him right now, you couldn't even go out to where you wanted to go out to tonight. 45:10.936 --> 45:11.559 And that's scary. 45:12.015 --> 45:13.019 Your whole week would be different. 45:14.377 --> 45:16.862 You're like if those gummies in my sock drawer, I'd have to throw them out. 45:20.075 --> 45:21.742 I was definitely awarded the Lord in the first service. 45:22.016 --> 45:30.421 I'll try again in a second to see, but it just came out of my spirit in the first service and it was like a Throughout the summer. 45:31.864 --> 45:32.946 If the shoe fits, wear it. 45:34.477 --> 45:39.357 No, but for somebody let's use that Save of discomfort. 45:39.838 --> 45:40.699 That's where I feel best. 45:45.895 --> 45:52.422 The whole notion of submitting everything to the Lord is daunting because you don't even know what you'd look like by Wednesday. 45:52.595 --> 45:54.282 Your whole life would be different. 45:55.456 --> 46:04.166 Just chill, inhale, relax, take him by the hand and one step at a time. 46:05.136 --> 46:05.457 Amen. 46:06.475 --> 46:08.181 God loves ugly. 46:09.415 --> 46:24.547 He's not afraid by your ugly and he's willing to work in the midst of your ugly, as long as you're honest about the ugly, as long as you can call ugly ugly, as long as you're not bending scripture, rationalizing and presenting a lie instead of the truth. 46:24.915 --> 46:29.484 God will get right in the guagmire with you and help you out of your ugly over time. 46:29.585 --> 46:30.326 Yes, he will. 46:30.346 --> 46:31.148 He's that awesome. 46:32.518 --> 46:33.863 I know this is how he works. 46:34.015 --> 46:38.463 This is how he did it in my life and also the ones I've seen grow up and mature. 46:39.675 --> 46:42.599 This is how he does it when works in progress. 46:42.975 --> 46:44.240 But don't be overwhelmed by Lord. 46:44.280 --> 46:45.143 I can't give you everything. 46:45.595 --> 46:55.385 I'll give you my all after I just get these things done that I really can't do with you on board, and then eventually I'll clean myself up enough to where I can present myself to you to make you look. 46:56.196 --> 46:59.921 No, that day will never come and you'll be in misery waiting for it to come. 47:02.135 --> 47:19.101 The man who does what Jesus says, he is like a man building a house who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock, and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against the house and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. 47:19.221 --> 47:19.562 Amen. 47:20.255 --> 47:21.240 We all love these verses. 47:21.535 --> 47:28.705 There's songs we sing that contain these verses the fortress, the solid house built on a sure foundation. 47:29.575 --> 47:41.083 What might have skipped our attention is that that's actually talking about the man who's made Jesus, lord of his life, the one who does what he says, that's the man whose house, whose life is built on a rock. 47:41.945 --> 47:45.977 And let me tell you something the thunderstorms will come, the wind will blow. 47:48.175 --> 47:53.427 The man who does what Jesus says, who surrendered to his Lordship, his house will stand. 47:53.895 --> 47:55.260 But he who heard, worshiped him. 47:55.300 --> 48:11.904 You can come up, but he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently and immediately it fell and the ruin of that house was great. 48:13.095 --> 48:17.786 In my walk with the Lord, I have been both men, man. 48:17.886 --> 48:18.387 One is better. 48:18.956 --> 48:19.718 I'll leave it at that. 48:24.013 --> 48:24.175 Amen. 48:24.215 --> 48:24.315 Look. 48:24.375 --> 48:25.599 22, 39. 48:27.795 --> 48:28.558 We're closing with this. 48:30.655 --> 48:38.416 It's Jesus in the garden, our ultimate example Coming out. 48:38.456 --> 48:43.937 He went to the Mount of Olives as he was accustomed, and his disciples also followed him. 48:45.775 --> 48:49.745 When he came to the place, he said to them pray that you may not enter into temptation. 48:50.855 --> 49:04.836 And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's throw and he knelt down and prayed, saying Father, if it is your will, take this cup away from me If there's some way. 49:04.856 --> 49:09.445 This is Jesus in his humanity, understanding what lies ahead. 49:11.655 --> 49:17.459 Physically speaking, the pain is too much to bear, but that's just physically. 49:18.555 --> 49:29.529 I don't believe for one second Jesus was actually this terrified over the lashings or the tent pegs, the nails the size of tent pegs and railroad spikes that were about to go through his flesh. 49:30.175 --> 49:44.324 What really was terrifying Jesus was that this would be the moment where he would take on the sin of the world and, for the first time in history, be separated from God, the Father, where he would cry out my God, my God, why have you abandoned me? 49:46.455 --> 49:56.303 And that the holy wrath of God would be poured out on him Spikes the size of tent pegs and a crown of thorns and beatings. 49:56.804 --> 50:01.986 That pales in comparison to the holy wrath of God for billions and billions and billions of people being poured out on you. 50:02.575 --> 50:07.964 That's what he's talking about here is, if there is another way, let me take that other way. 50:08.005 --> 50:08.826 Is there a plan B? 50:09.788 --> 50:10.509 He knew there wasn't. 50:10.915 --> 50:12.220 It just shows what he was going through. 50:13.015 --> 50:15.723 Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done. 50:16.435 --> 50:19.543 This is his prayer of dedication and consecration. 50:21.335 --> 50:26.396 This is something that I've prayed throughout the years and that I want to invite you to pray. 50:27.255 --> 50:35.249 This is him coming to the end of himself and saying Lord, I truly receive you as Lord. 50:36.015 --> 50:38.439 You are my God, you are my Lord. 50:38.775 --> 50:41.823 All I want to do is what you want me to do. 50:43.315 --> 50:46.019 I won't go my own way, I'll go your way. 50:46.575 --> 50:48.838 I won't do my own thing, I'll do your thing. 50:50.115 --> 50:53.545 I trust you, not just as Savior, but as Lord. 50:53.775 --> 51:06.182 I'd like every head bowed, every eye closed, if you sense the Holy Spirit moving on you and you want to dedicate your life afresh, you want to surrender to the Lordship of Christ. 51:06.824 --> 51:08.508 Raise your hand all throughout this building. 51:09.136 --> 51:20.958 You're saying, lord, I want to pray to you the prayer of dedication and consecration, not what I want to do, but what you want me to do, not my will, but yours. 51:21.038 --> 51:21.379 Be done. 51:24.655 --> 51:25.657 Lift your hand up high. 51:31.295 --> 51:38.457 Thank you Lord, thank you Jesus, thank you Lord. 51:39.375 --> 51:39.938 Let's all stand. 51:40.775 --> 51:43.161 Those of you who have raised your hands, come on up to the front. 51:43.221 --> 52:07.587 Right now we're just going to worship the Lord to the song, all the way to the front, where God is going to meet you at this altar, and there'll be an impartation of the Holy Ghost upon you and an anointing and a freshening feeling. 52:09.075 --> 52:13.880 I know there were times in my life where I said, lord, could you really just come back and be Lord of my life. 52:14.195 --> 52:23.847 I've just made such a mess With such an irreparable mess, like a broken antique vase, and you go. 52:24.007 --> 52:28.144 There is no amount of superglue on the planet where I can restore this thing. 52:28.855 --> 52:31.563 God comes in and restores it better than you. 52:32.455 --> 52:34.340 When God fixes, he makes better than you. 52:36.335 --> 52:40.019 Just shout this out loud Lord Jesus, I surrender. 52:41.015 --> 52:44.443 I give you my all, just like you gave me your all. 52:46.616 --> 52:51.462 Realign me, not my will, but yours. 52:51.563 --> 52:56.757 Be done In Jesus' name Amen. 52:58.535 --> 53:00.482 This is the City Light Church Podcast. 53:00.975 -->
