00:00.421 --> 00:04.111
You who've received Jesus, you've put your faith in Him.
00:04.581 --> 00:06.026
God does not find any fault in you.
00:06.368 --> 00:06.769
What do you mean?
00:06.940 --> 00:08.667
But what about those issues I'm working on?
00:08.881 --> 00:09.765
He doesn't see them.
00:10.161 --> 00:12.008
You have non-imputation of sin.
00:12.561 --> 00:15.089
The Bible says you have been made perfect in Him.
00:15.541 --> 00:19.231
The Holy Spirit doesn't indwell sinful buildings.
00:19.661 --> 00:21.067
Yet the Holy Spirit indwells you.
00:21.320 --> 00:25.286
He's been given to you because your sin has been stripped away, taken completely out of the way.
00:26.301 --> 00:28.389

Pastor Boyan Jansik and his team believe that the power of the Holy Spirit is already working in our hearts and minds.
00:52.641 --> 01:02.428
As you listen to today's teaching, remember that you are deeply loved by God, that you are surrounded by His grace and that he has a real hope and a future for you.
01:05.920 --> 01:06.342
How are you?
01:06.402 --> 01:16.170
Forgiven ones, justified ones, made righteous, ones, blessed with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places, and Christ ones?
01:17.100 --> 01:23.800
We're celebrating what Jesus has done through His substitutionary death for us on the cross in this series on Galatians.
01:23.920 --> 01:27.911
Before we begin, let me just say I was so appreciative.
01:28.440 --> 01:32.712
As many of you know, I experienced flooding in my Williamsburg condo.
01:33.000 --> 01:42.480
It's a duplex but it's a ground floor duplex, so my bedroom and our children's bedroom, it was all in the basement and we started flooding last year.
01:42.580 --> 01:44.988
When I said flooding, I thought I knew what flooding was.
01:45.660 --> 01:46.725
It was one or two inches.
01:47.160 --> 01:55.991
It doesn't sound like a lot, but that's enough to ruin your carpets, ruin the baseboards, ruin whatever was on the floor and require immediate repair, and that happened several times.
01:56.060 --> 02:05.722
The Lord moved us to Long Island, thank God, because this Friday my neighbor who has the keys to my condo we still have it, we're waiting to either rent it or sell it he went in.
02:05.762 --> 02:07.909
I said just shoot me some video footage of what it looks like.
02:08.640 --> 02:12.293
It was 18 inches of water and, at the height, two feet of water.
02:12.460 --> 02:15.509
All of the ground floor units in my whole building were completely wiped out.
02:16.380 --> 02:28.053
And I'm looking at that and I'm sitting in a very, very dry Long Island home and I'm looking at what my bedroom and my children's bedroom would have looked like.
02:28.481 --> 02:32.051
I was frustrated with one to two inches, but 18 to 24 inches.
02:32.140 --> 02:33.767
Now the water is up to the mattress.
02:34.462 --> 02:35.687
Now everything is ruined.
02:35.740 --> 02:42.310
The walls are ruined because you know when the water touches that for that many hours you got all sorts of growth happening within the walls.
02:43.303 --> 02:49.048
And I'm saying, lord, you knew this would happen and in your wisdom you moved me out.
02:49.188 --> 03:03.980
Because that would have, that would have at least taken a month of my time months most likely to live in a hotel during the series on Galatians to try to prepare this series out of some Icano hotel.
03:04.140 --> 03:15.747
The insurance company would have put us up in Long Island City, like last time, where it's oh, breakfast is included, yeah, breakfast is Cheerios and that six month old sausage, egg and cheese sandwich you just unfrozed this morning.
03:17.363 --> 03:18.300
So God is good, isn't he?
03:18.481 --> 03:20.842
Amen, amen.
03:22.921 --> 03:27.532
So we're continuing our series of Galatians.
03:28.182 --> 03:29.480
We're in Galatians, chapter two.
03:29.680 --> 03:35.389
Before I begin Galatians chapter two, let me just give a quick recap, those of you who are just joining us.
03:35.812 --> 03:45.866
This series is so important, it's so pivotal, because there are two distinct, two separate covenants that people can live under.
03:47.041 --> 03:48.607
One is known as the old covenant.
03:49.040 --> 03:51.648
You can also call it the old covenant of the law.
03:52.680 --> 03:56.830
Under the old covenant of the law, you were never, ever justified.
03:58.160 --> 03:59.606
The law cannot justify you.
03:59.760 --> 04:02.087
The word justify means pronounced not guilty.
04:03.940 --> 04:09.392
Under the system of the law, you endeavored, you tried real hard to be approved unto God.
04:10.240 --> 04:20.564
You strived to be justified, and you strived according to your own self effort, according to your own discipline, according to your own religiosity, according to your own works.
04:20.965 --> 04:22.329
Yet you failed every time.
04:23.320 --> 04:25.788
That sounds depressing, just saying it, doesn't it?
04:26.660 --> 04:29.169
And a good question to ask is why have such a system?
04:29.240 --> 04:30.525
That just sounds cruel, right?
04:31.361 --> 04:36.923
Do you know that if you look at the scriptures, it doesn't seem that that was God's original intent when giving the law?
04:36.983 --> 04:41.769
He actually seemed to have offered them a choice and he said hey, this law, is this what you want?
04:42.221 --> 04:52.451
And they all, in unison with their pride, the children of Israel, responded with yes, this is what we want, for we are well able to keep everything you've commanded us to do.
04:53.641 --> 04:55.428
Uh, that didn't work out too well.
04:56.160 --> 05:08.269
So God said oh, okay, pride, so there's going to have to be another system where you come to the end of yourself where you realize that you cannot do it alone.
05:08.400 --> 05:09.325
You're not all that.
05:09.681 --> 05:13.146
You need a deliverer, you need a savior.
05:14.660 --> 05:23.465
So you have the Old Testament, the Old Covenant system of law where you endeavor to be approved unto God through your own self-effort never really were.
05:23.700 --> 05:44.472
And then you have the new covenant where you are fully approved, fully justified, completely not based on your own doings, not based on your own self-effort, but based completely on what Jesus has already done for you, which is keep the law in its entirety and then become a sacrifice for your sins.
05:45.240 --> 05:49.571
Your sins fell upon him and his righteousness fell upon you.
05:50.680 --> 05:52.286
There was a divine exchange there.
05:52.900 --> 05:54.024
Which system seems better?
05:56.860 --> 06:00.841
Yeah, amen, yeah.
06:00.901 --> 06:07.947
What we find is typically people not knowing the differences and mixing the two covenants.
06:09.860 --> 06:16.634
And the whole book of Galatians is written to warn us against mixture.
06:16.881 --> 06:21.688
You cannot mix the covenants, you cannot try to balance grace out.
06:22.920 --> 06:33.125
Grace, by its very definition, is extreme, it's radical, and it doesn't need us in the equation to do stuff to help us save you out in order to balance things out.
06:34.721 --> 06:34.982
Amen.
06:35.940 --> 06:48.310
So typically, when I begin like this, the argument, the response, because this is true gospel, but it comes against what we've typically been taught.
06:48.740 --> 06:53.312
The response is oh so you're telling me the old covenant law is done with.
06:53.580 --> 06:55.648
Well, I'm not telling you, but that's what the Scripture tells you.
06:56.100 --> 06:59.389
Well, what they hear then is so we're not even supposed to read the Old Testament?
06:59.490 --> 07:01.600
No, you're supposed to read the Old Testament.
07:01.680 --> 07:05.731
It's still the Word of God, just as much as the New Testament is the Word of God.
07:06.101 --> 07:09.591
In fact, in the New Testament it says these things were written for our example.
07:09.960 --> 07:13.210
There's so much we can learn, but just know that was a different system.
07:14.041 --> 07:15.306
We're under a different system.
07:15.821 --> 07:24.452
God hasn't changed, but the way in which he deals with people has, and the cross of Jesus changed everything, hallelujah.
07:24.801 --> 07:28.100
So they hear things like oh, you're just saying throw out the Old Testament.
07:28.301 --> 07:38.028
No, I'm saying throw out living today like you're living in the Old Testament, live in light of the cross of Christ, live in light of this new covenant that we're under.
07:38.521 --> 07:45.549
Also, what they hear is oh so you're just saying like the Ten Commandments has gone to Throw out any holiness, throw out any type of law.
07:46.482 --> 07:52.140
And what they hear because they don't stick around long enough what they hear is oh, there's a pastor who's encouraging lawlessness.
07:52.361 --> 07:55.626
He said don't live under the law, he's encouraging lawlessness.
07:56.221 --> 08:12.028
And the exact opposite is true when you live under grace, there's more holiness, yeah, except it comes from the inside out, from the power of the Holy Spirit within you, not the way religion brings it from the outside.
08:12.148 --> 08:25.849
In God is not after behavior modification, he's after heart transformation, and what's happening during this series is our believing, our faith, is getting sorted out, because right believing leads to right doing.
08:26.921 --> 08:30.611
Wrong believing leads to wrong doing Amen.
08:31.401 --> 08:38.332
So what better place to begin the second chapter of Galatians than the book of 2 Corinthians?
08:38.392 --> 08:39.794
Let's look at this first Amen.
08:40.200 --> 08:43.365
2 Corinthians, chapter 3, verses 7 through 9.
08:49.262 --> 08:51.086
Just want to show you a couple of things here.
08:54.540 --> 09:12.826
But if the ministry of death written and engraved on stones was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses first, notice what the apostle Paul calls the Old Covenant, the system of law, he calls it the ministry of death.
09:14.241 --> 09:15.727
Why was it the ministry of death?
09:15.900 --> 09:17.946
Does that sound like a system you want to be under, by the way?
09:20.480 --> 09:21.342
The ministry of death?
09:21.403 --> 09:24.631
Because the law is like a giant magnifying glass.
09:25.440 --> 09:27.688
It comes over you and exposes your cracks.
09:27.920 --> 09:29.085
It exposes your sin.
09:29.820 --> 09:37.564
It places a demand on you but doesn't impart unto you the power to fulfill that demand, so it just brings death.
09:38.980 --> 09:45.789
Under the new covenant there is a demand, but you're imparted with the Holy Spirit and with the new created spirit, a born again spirit.
09:46.040 --> 09:48.207
You're imparted with power to fulfill that demand.
09:49.640 --> 10:00.541
But if the ministry of death are written and engraved on stones, talking about the giving of the Ten Commandments was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses, remember, his face was shining like a light bulb, they said.
10:00.561 --> 10:10.310
It was radiating like the noonday sun when the law was given Because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away.
10:10.720 --> 10:11.201
Verse 8,.
10:11.822 --> 10:22.032
How will the ministry of the Spirit that's what we're under now, the new covenant, the New Testament, these are all synonyms the ministry of the Spirit.
10:22.740 --> 10:26.811
How will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious?
10:27.020 --> 10:29.146
Can everyone just say that with me, more glorious.
10:30.920 --> 10:33.628
Make a choice what side of the cross do you want to live on?
10:35.220 --> 10:38.209
I want to live on the more glorious side, the new covenant side.
10:39.380 --> 10:51.227
I don't want to live on the wrong side of the cross, the BC side, the pre-crucifixion, pre-resurrection, pre-dev Pentecost, giving of the Holy Spirit and church being birthside.
10:51.267 --> 10:59.842
No, no, I want to live without balance, radically, extremely on the new covenant side Verse 9,.
11:01.566 --> 11:13.642
For if the ministry of condemnation, if anyone asks you, what is the law, what is the system of the law, say oh, I know, ministry of death, ministry of condemnation, that's what it is.
11:16.560 --> 11:23.686
For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness, what's the ministry of righteousness?
11:24.140 --> 11:33.690
Grace, the new covenant of his grace, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory.
11:34.580 --> 11:38.671
So, essentially, the apostle Paul is saying the new covenant is better than the old.
11:39.300 --> 11:39.561
Amen.
11:40.483 --> 11:46.804
Now let's go into the book of Hebrews, chapter 8, verse 6.
11:48.580 --> 12:01.402
But now he has, speaking of Jesus, obtained a more excellent ministry in as much as he is also mediator of a what Better covenant.
12:09.963 --> 12:18.352
We as people are messed up and we have an innate propensity to gravitate towards the system of the law.
12:19.742 --> 12:22.605
You know where you first see that In the Garden of Eden.
12:24.021 --> 12:27.931
God gave him a choice the tree of life which is Jesus himself.
12:28.661 --> 12:33.065
And when I talk about grace, I'm not talking about a doctrine, I'm talking about a person.
12:34.544 --> 12:36.100
Grace has a lot of definitions.
12:36.341 --> 12:47.100
It's the means by which we are saved God's riches at Christ's expense, but even deeper than that, it is Jesus himself, because the law was given by Moses.
12:47.321 --> 12:52.700
It was a thing that was given, but grace and truth came in the person of Jesus Christ.
12:52.881 --> 13:07.111
That's what it says in the Gospel of John Hallelujah, hallelujah.
13:10.887 --> 13:22.830
But now he has obtained a more excellent ministry and as much as he's also mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.
13:25.063 --> 13:27.671
I was saying that man has a natural propensity toward the law.
13:27.960 --> 13:34.529
In the Garden of Eden, he was given a choice the tree of life, which is Jesus, which is grace, or the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
13:35.080 --> 13:36.465
What is the knowledge of good and evil?
13:36.766 --> 13:37.308
It's the law.
13:38.201 --> 13:40.268
The law brings the knowledge of good and evil.
13:41.342 --> 13:59.448
And man, since that day up until now, we just gravitate towards what makes sense to our carnal mind, and we've been taught by our parents, by society, by this whole world system do good, get good, do bad, get bad.
14:01.168 --> 14:02.537
You're saying, yeah, isn't that Christianity?
14:02.819 --> 14:09.405
No, while you were yet a sinner, christ died for you Under grace.
14:09.465 --> 14:10.789
You do bad, you get good.
14:11.526 --> 14:12.718
See, I knew it.
14:13.725 --> 14:14.933
You say that kind of stuff.
14:15.175 --> 14:15.960
Everybody's going to lose their minds.
14:16.683 --> 14:17.928
Start swinging from the light bulbs.
14:18.682 --> 14:25.879
You'll go to the bathroom, pastor, come back up and they'll be building a golden calf running around here, half naked, just over strength getting cast.
14:26.743 --> 14:38.130
No, that's not how it works, because when you really see his beauty, when you see the cross, when you understand what he has done for you and inside of you, you are transformed and you are changed.
14:40.423 --> 14:42.960
Paul called the law the ministry of death, the ministry of condemnation.
14:43.482 --> 14:45.789
He also said the strength of sin is in the law.
14:46.262 --> 14:50.646
The more you preach law, law, law, you know what you're going to get Not holiness, more sin.
14:52.822 --> 14:56.691
The more you preach grace, true grace, biblical grace.
14:58.523 --> 15:06.627
In Romans we learn that grace not only establishes you firmly in the new covenant, declares you not guilty, but also it's an empowerment against sin.
15:09.241 --> 15:12.960
You see, true holiness come out of you, but through actually no self-effort of your own.
15:13.823 --> 15:19.558
So you can't get religious pride, you can't become haughty of how you cleaned your life up.
15:19.839 --> 15:28.990
No, all you did was yield, all you did was acknowledge that you died with him and then his life sprang up.
15:30.317 --> 15:30.940
But yeah, man is messed up.
15:31.482 --> 15:36.268
We always gravitate towards the law, but we need to shun it and not mix it.
15:37.926 --> 15:40.885
For if the first covenant had been faultless, the first covenant.
15:40.945 --> 15:42.593
The old covenant had been faultless.
15:43.136 --> 15:43.960
That means there was a fault with it.
15:44.261 --> 15:47.960
There was a problem, then no place would have been sought for a second.
15:48.384 --> 15:51.365
Yet even in the old there's prophetic words that a new one is coming.
15:52.508 --> 15:52.830
Why?
15:53.040 --> 15:54.366
What was the problem with the old?
15:55.404 --> 15:56.960
Because finding fault with them?
15:57.521 --> 16:00.689
The problem with the old is that God found fault with them.
16:02.561 --> 16:02.882
Do you know?
16:02.922 --> 16:04.666
God doesn't have that problem under the new?
16:08.942 --> 16:14.548
You who've received Jesus, you who've put your faith in him, god does not find any fault in you.
16:14.870 --> 16:15.312
What do you mean?
16:15.473 --> 16:16.900
But what about those issues I'm working on?
16:17.402 --> 16:18.285
He doesn't see them.
16:19.963 --> 16:21.808
You have non-imputation of sin.
16:23.100 --> 16:25.105
The Bible says you have been made perfect.
16:25.326 --> 16:25.627
In him.
16:28.842 --> 16:34.204
The Holy Spirit doesn't indwell sinful buildings, sinful vessels.
16:34.565 --> 16:35.950
Yet the Holy Spirit indwells you.
16:36.201 --> 16:40.165
He's been given to you because your sin has been stripped away, taken completely out of the way.
16:41.562 --> 16:42.888
So he doesn't find any fault with you.
16:43.202 --> 16:48.068
The problem with the old is he found fault with them still, because the law can never justify you.
16:49.153 --> 16:49.534
Why?
16:49.876 --> 16:50.940
Why did he still find fault with them?
16:51.281 --> 16:52.466
What was the problem with the old?
16:52.980 --> 16:55.989
The problem with the old was the problem with everything Us.
16:57.161 --> 16:59.823
We were in the equation Under the old God.
16:59.863 --> 17:07.920
The Father had a covenant with the people, guess, who kept breaking their side of the bargain, the people they kept messing up and messing up and messing up.
17:08.884 --> 17:11.888
So God had a solution Under the new.
17:12.831 --> 17:18.751
It's Christ in you, the hope of glory, who's keeping your side of the covenant intact.
17:19.202 --> 17:20.475
So you have God, the Father.
17:20.495 --> 17:27.934
He made a covenant and, on your behalf, jesus is forever keeping your end of the bargain.
17:29.086 --> 17:35.940
He's forever upholding the covenant in your place, so that God will not find fault and so that you cannot take any credit.
17:36.321 --> 17:41.426
And guess what also you can then do Rest, rest.
17:44.922 --> 17:47.890
It can be a peace that he's got you.
17:49.161 --> 18:15.145
You won't mess this thing up Because, finding fault with them, he says behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to leave them out of the land of Egypt because they did not continue in my covenant, says the Lord, hallelujah.
18:16.040 --> 18:20.233
Well, let's begin in Galatians, chapter two, starting in verse one.
18:20.253 --> 18:22.899
We're going to go line upon line, precept upon precept.
18:23.782 --> 18:26.149
I encourage you to pay attention.
18:27.341 --> 18:31.225
Rewatch the broadcast on YouTube, listen to the podcast.
18:32.060 --> 18:33.827
This isn't something that you'll get overnight.
18:34.687 --> 18:35.960
For a lot of you, a lot of questions will be raised.
18:36.502 --> 18:38.689
This is a journey our church has been on for decades.
18:39.823 --> 18:43.960
Just this year of 2023, we went through Romans six, seven and eight.
18:45.023 --> 18:46.888
If you haven't watched those sermons, they're online.
18:48.482 --> 19:00.092
We had summer life groups, all based on grace, and now we're doing this whole series Because a church that's fully living, with no mixture, still remains to restonged and the new covenant is a blessed church.
19:00.787 --> 19:03.872
It's a church that knows all the things that have been freely given to them by God.
19:04.186 --> 19:05.330
It's a victorious church.
19:07.086 --> 19:08.504
You wanna see a church that has mixture.
19:08.565 --> 19:11.053
You're gonna find Christians who have a spiritual insecurity.
19:12.145 --> 19:26.412
They're living under condemnation, they're living under shame, they don't have boldness and they constantly they may not admit it, but secretly just seems like they're trying to appease an unappeasable master.
19:27.545 --> 19:34.234
But when you understand grace, you can rest and know that he looks at you through the blood of Jesus and you are well pleasing to him.
19:35.925 --> 19:39.716
And no, this does not produce laziness, it doesn't.
19:41.787 --> 19:42.093
I know.
19:42.865 --> 19:45.293
I know who gets most excited about this message of grace.
19:46.067 --> 19:49.310
If we had evangelism right after service, they'd be the first ones to say I'm going too.
19:50.425 --> 19:53.411
If we had four days of fasting, they'd be the first ones to fast.
19:53.745 --> 19:56.249
If we had a building campaign, they'd be the first ones to give.
19:58.190 --> 20:02.305
From the outside, someone would say I feel like they'd be the last ones Cause you just you keep preaching.
20:02.385 --> 20:04.192
God will love you whether you do it or not.
20:04.765 --> 20:05.990
Yeah, grace blows your mind.
20:06.565 --> 20:08.432
Grace is upside down topsy-turvy.
20:09.105 --> 20:12.195
Grace is unlike anything the world has ever, ever seen before.
20:14.265 --> 20:15.410
It's the mystery of grace.
20:17.705 --> 20:21.252
I tell people that they're not cursed by God if they don't tithe and our giving goes up.
20:23.491 --> 20:28.489
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah.
20:30.205 --> 20:31.931
So here, what's happening with the Galatians?
20:33.025 --> 20:39.394
A group called the Judaizers has crept in, and the Judaizers are Christians in a sense.
20:39.665 --> 20:44.635
They believe in Jesus, but they also believe you had to keep the law of Moses.
20:45.145 --> 20:52.752
So they crept in and they told, as an initial thing, they told all the men you have to get circumcised, cause that's the right of passage to becoming a Jew.
20:53.305 --> 20:55.372
And Paul loses his mind.
20:55.945 --> 21:10.330
It's the angriest you ever see him, the most passionate, the most emotional you ever see him, cause he realizes if you mix even a little bit, it's like drinking a glass of water that's 99% pure water but 1% arsenic.
21:10.405 --> 21:11.309
Would you drink that water?
21:11.745 --> 21:17.552
No, he says mixture will nullify, it, will frustrate the grace of God.
21:17.945 --> 21:20.173
You cannot have any mixture.
21:20.725 --> 21:25.317
Yet way too many Christians are actually living with mixture.
21:27.585 --> 21:31.131
So he's bringing some order here and some much needed correction here.
21:31.686 --> 21:33.392
And we left in Galatians, chapter one.
21:34.165 --> 21:40.546
He's essentially telling you his travel plans, not because he needed filler material to fill up the New Testament with, but he's just.
21:42.151 --> 22:01.154
He wants everybody to know, he wants his listeners to understand, that he got the gospel of grace supernaturally directly from God, but he didn't get it alone in some bush in the wilderness, but that he actually went to Jerusalem and met with all the top apostles and they confirmed.
22:01.325 --> 22:03.729
They said, yeah, that thing that you got, that's what we got.
22:04.065 --> 22:05.892
We're under a different dispensation.
22:06.265 --> 22:07.831
We're under a different system of order.
