00:00.421 --> 00:04.111
You who've received Jesus, you've put your faith in Him.

00:04.581 --> 00:06.026
God does not find any fault in you.

00:06.368 --> 00:06.769
What do you mean?

00:06.940 --> 00:08.667
But what about those issues I'm working on?

00:08.881 --> 00:09.765
He doesn't see them.

00:10.161 --> 00:12.008
You have non-imputation of sin.

00:12.561 --> 00:15.089
The Bible says you have been made perfect in Him.

00:15.541 --> 00:19.231
The Holy Spirit doesn't indwell sinful buildings.

00:19.661 --> 00:21.067
Yet the Holy Spirit indwells you.

00:21.320 --> 00:25.286
He's been given to you because your sin has been stripped away, taken completely out of the way.

As you listen to today's teaching, remember that you are deeply loved by God, that you are surrounded by His grace and that he has a real hope and a future for you.

01:05.920 --> 01:06.342
How are you?

01:06.402 --> 01:16.170
Forgiven ones, justified ones, made righteous, ones, blessed with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places, and Christ ones?

01:17.100 --> 01:23.800
We're celebrating what Jesus has done through His substitutionary death for us on the cross in this series on Galatians.

01:23.920 --> 01:27.911
Before we begin, let me just say I was so appreciative.

01:28.440 --> 01:32.712
As many of you know, I experienced flooding in my Williamsburg condo.

01:33.000 --> 01:42.480
It's a duplex but it's a ground floor duplex, so my bedroom and our children's bedroom, it was all in the basement and we started flooding last year.

01:42.580 --> 01:44.988
When I said flooding, I thought I knew what flooding was.

01:45.660 --> 01:46.725
It was one or two inches.

01:47.160 --> 01:55.991
It doesn't sound like a lot, but that's enough to ruin your carpets, ruin the baseboards, ruin whatever was on the floor and require immediate repair, and that happened several times.

01:56.060 --> 02:05.722
The Lord moved us to Long Island, thank God, because this Friday my neighbor who has the keys to my condo we still have it, we're waiting to either rent it or sell it he went in.

02:05.762 --> 02:07.909
I said just shoot me some video footage of what it looks like.

02:08.640 --> 02:12.293
It was 18 inches of water and, at the height, two feet of water.

02:12.460 --> 02:15.509
All of the ground floor units in my whole building were completely wiped out.

02:16.380 --> 02:28.053
And I'm looking at that and I'm sitting in a very, very dry Long Island home and I'm looking at what my bedroom and my children's bedroom would have looked like.

02:28.481 --> 02:32.051
I was frustrated with one to two inches, but 18 to 24 inches.

02:32.140 --> 02:33.767
Now the water is up to the mattress.

02:34.462 --> 02:35.687
Now everything is ruined.

02:35.740 --> 02:42.310
The walls are ruined because you know when the water touches that for that many hours you got all sorts of growth happening within the walls.

02:43.303 --> 02:49.048
And I'm saying, lord, you knew this would happen and in your wisdom you moved me out.

02:49.188 --> 03:03.980
Because that would have, that would have at least taken a month of my time months most likely to live in a hotel during the series on Galatians to try to prepare this series out of some Icano hotel.

03:04.140 --> 03:15.747
The insurance company would have put us up in Long Island City, like last time, where it's oh, breakfast is included, yeah, breakfast is Cheerios and that six month old sausage, egg and cheese sandwich you just unfrozed this morning.

03:17.363 --> 03:18.300
So God is good, isn't he?

03:18.481 --> 03:20.842
Amen, amen.

03:22.921 --> 03:27.532
So we're continuing our series of Galatians.

03:28.182 --> 03:29.480
We're in Galatians, chapter two.

03:29.680 --> 03:35.389
Before I begin Galatians chapter two, let me just give a quick recap, those of you who are just joining us.

03:35.812 --> 03:45.866
This series is so important, it's so pivotal, because there are two distinct, two separate covenants that people can live under.

03:47.041 --> 03:48.607
One is known as the old covenant.

03:49.040 --> 03:51.648
You can also call it the old covenant of the law.

03:52.680 --> 03:56.830
Under the old covenant of the law, you were never, ever justified.

03:58.160 --> 03:59.606
The law cannot justify you.

03:59.760 --> 04:02.087
The word justify means pronounced not guilty.

04:03.940 --> 04:09.392
Under the system of the law, you endeavored, you tried real hard to be approved unto God.

04:10.240 --> 04:20.564
You strived to be justified, and you strived according to your own self effort, according to your own discipline, according to your own religiosity, according to your own works.

04:20.965 --> 04:22.329
Yet you failed every time.

04:23.320 --> 04:25.788
That sounds depressing, just saying it, doesn't it?

04:26.660 --> 04:29.169
And a good question to ask is why have such a system?

04:29.240 --> 04:30.525
That just sounds cruel, right?

04:31.361 --> 04:36.923
Do you know that if you look at the scriptures, it doesn't seem that that was God's original intent when giving the law?

04:36.983 --> 04:41.769
He actually seemed to have offered them a choice and he said hey, this law, is this what you want?

04:42.221 --> 04:52.451
And they all, in unison with their pride, the children of Israel, responded with yes, this is what we want, for we are well able to keep everything you've commanded us to do.

04:53.641 --> 04:55.428
Uh, that didn't work out too well.

04:56.160 --> 05:08.269
So God said oh, okay, pride, so there's going to have to be another system where you come to the end of yourself where you realize that you cannot do it alone.

05:08.400 --> 05:09.325
You're not all that.

05:09.681 --> 05:13.146
You need a deliverer, you need a savior.

05:14.660 --> 05:23.465
So you have the Old Testament, the Old Covenant system of law where you endeavor to be approved unto God through your own self-effort never really were.

05:23.700 --> 05:44.472
And then you have the new covenant where you are fully approved, fully justified, completely not based on your own doings, not based on your own self-effort, but based completely on what Jesus has already done for you, which is keep the law in its entirety and then become a sacrifice for your sins.

05:45.240 --> 05:49.571
Your sins fell upon him and his righteousness fell upon you.

05:50.680 --> 05:52.286
There was a divine exchange there.

05:52.900 --> 05:54.024
Which system seems better?

05:56.860 --> 06:00.841
Yeah, amen, yeah.

06:00.901 --> 06:07.947
What we find is typically people not knowing the differences and mixing the two covenants.

06:09.860 --> 06:16.634
And the whole book of Galatians is written to warn us against mixture.

06:16.881 --> 06:21.688
You cannot mix the covenants, you cannot try to balance grace out.

06:22.920 --> 06:33.125
Grace, by its very definition, is extreme, it's radical, and it doesn't need us in the equation to do stuff to help us save you out in order to balance things out.

06:34.721 --> 06:34.982
Amen.

06:35.940 --> 06:48.310
So typically, when I begin like this, the argument, the response, because this is true gospel, but it comes against what we've typically been taught.

06:48.740 --> 06:53.312
The response is oh so you're telling me the old covenant law is done with.

06:53.580 --> 06:55.648
Well, I'm not telling you, but that's what the Scripture tells you.

06:56.100 --> 06:59.389
Well, what they hear then is so we're not even supposed to read the Old Testament?

06:59.490 --> 07:01.600
No, you're supposed to read the Old Testament.

07:01.680 --> 07:05.731
It's still the Word of God, just as much as the New Testament is the Word of God.

07:06.101 --> 07:09.591
In fact, in the New Testament it says these things were written for our example.

07:09.960 --> 07:13.210
There's so much we can learn, but just know that was a different system.

07:14.041 --> 07:15.306
We're under a different system.

07:15.821 --> 07:24.452
God hasn't changed, but the way in which he deals with people has, and the cross of Jesus changed everything, hallelujah.

07:24.801 --> 07:28.100
So they hear things like oh, you're just saying throw out the Old Testament.

07:28.301 --> 07:38.028
No, I'm saying throw out living today like you're living in the Old Testament, live in light of the cross of Christ, live in light of this new covenant that we're under.

07:38.521 --> 07:45.549
Also, what they hear is oh so you're just saying like the Ten Commandments has gone to Throw out any holiness, throw out any type of law.

07:46.482 --> 07:52.140
And what they hear because they don't stick around long enough what they hear is oh, there's a pastor who's encouraging lawlessness.

07:52.361 --> 07:55.626
He said don't live under the law, he's encouraging lawlessness.

07:56.221 --> 08:12.028
And the exact opposite is true when you live under grace, there's more holiness, yeah, except it comes from the inside out, from the power of the Holy Spirit within you, not the way religion brings it from the outside.

08:12.148 --> 08:25.849
In God is not after behavior modification, he's after heart transformation, and what's happening during this series is our believing, our faith, is getting sorted out, because right believing leads to right doing.

08:26.921 --> 08:30.611
Wrong believing leads to wrong doing Amen.

08:31.401 --> 08:38.332
So what better place to begin the second chapter of Galatians than the book of 2 Corinthians?

08:38.392 --> 08:39.794
Let's look at this first Amen.

08:40.200 --> 08:43.365
2 Corinthians, chapter 3, verses 7 through 9.

08:49.262 --> 08:51.086
Just want to show you a couple of things here.

08:54.540 --> 09:12.826
But if the ministry of death written and engraved on stones was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses first, notice what the apostle Paul calls the Old Covenant, the system of law, he calls it the ministry of death.

09:14.241 --> 09:15.727
Why was it the ministry of death?

09:15.900 --> 09:17.946
Does that sound like a system you want to be under, by the way?

09:20.480 --> 09:21.342
The ministry of death?

09:21.403 --> 09:24.631
Because the law is like a giant magnifying glass.

09:25.440 --> 09:27.688
It comes over you and exposes your cracks.

09:27.920 --> 09:29.085
It exposes your sin.

09:29.820 --> 09:37.564
It places a demand on you but doesn't impart unto you the power to fulfill that demand, so it just brings death.

09:38.980 --> 09:45.789
Under the new covenant there is a demand, but you're imparted with the Holy Spirit and with the new created spirit, a born again spirit.

09:46.040 --> 09:48.207
You're imparted with power to fulfill that demand.

09:49.640 --> 10:00.541
But if the ministry of death are written and engraved on stones, talking about the giving of the Ten Commandments was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses, remember, his face was shining like a light bulb, they said.

10:00.561 --> 10:10.310
It was radiating like the noonday sun when the law was given Because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away.

10:10.720 --> 10:11.201
Verse 8,.

10:11.822 --> 10:22.032
How will the ministry of the Spirit that's what we're under now, the new covenant, the New Testament, these are all synonyms the ministry of the Spirit.

10:22.740 --> 10:26.811
How will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious?

10:27.020 --> 10:29.146
Can everyone just say that with me, more glorious.

10:30.920 --> 10:33.628
Make a choice what side of the cross do you want to live on?

10:35.220 --> 10:38.209
I want to live on the more glorious side, the new covenant side.

10:39.380 --> 10:51.227
I don't want to live on the wrong side of the cross, the BC side, the pre-crucifixion, pre-resurrection, pre-dev Pentecost, giving of the Holy Spirit and church being birthside.

10:51.267 --> 10:59.842
No, no, I want to live without balance, radically, extremely on the new covenant side Verse 9,.

11:01.566 --> 11:13.642
For if the ministry of condemnation, if anyone asks you, what is the law, what is the system of the law, say oh, I know, ministry of death, ministry of condemnation, that's what it is.

11:16.560 --> 11:23.686
For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness, what's the ministry of righteousness?

11:24.140 --> 11:33.690
Grace, the new covenant of his grace, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory.

11:34.580 --> 11:38.671
So, essentially, the apostle Paul is saying the new covenant is better than the old.

11:39.300 --> 11:39.561
Amen.

11:40.483 --> 11:46.804
Now let's go into the book of Hebrews, chapter 8, verse 6.

11:48.580 --> 12:01.402
But now he has, speaking of Jesus, obtained a more excellent ministry in as much as he is also mediator of a what Better covenant.

12:09.963 --> 12:18.352
We as people are messed up and we have an innate propensity to gravitate towards the system of the law.

12:19.742 --> 12:22.605
You know where you first see that In the Garden of Eden.

12:24.021 --> 12:27.931
God gave him a choice the tree of life which is Jesus himself.

12:28.661 --> 12:33.065
And when I talk about grace, I'm not talking about a doctrine, I'm talking about a person.

12:34.544 --> 12:36.100
Grace has a lot of definitions.

12:36.341 --> 12:47.100
It's the means by which we are saved God's riches at Christ's expense, but even deeper than that, it is Jesus himself, because the law was given by Moses.

12:47.321 --> 12:52.700
It was a thing that was given, but grace and truth came in the person of Jesus Christ.

12:52.881 --> 13:07.111
That's what it says in the Gospel of John Hallelujah, hallelujah.

13:10.887 --> 13:22.830
But now he has obtained a more excellent ministry and as much as he's also mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.

13:25.063 --> 13:27.671
I was saying that man has a natural propensity toward the law.

13:27.960 --> 13:34.529
In the Garden of Eden, he was given a choice the tree of life, which is Jesus, which is grace, or the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

13:35.080 --> 13:36.465
What is the knowledge of good and evil?

13:36.766 --> 13:37.308
It's the law.

13:38.201 --> 13:40.268
The law brings the knowledge of good and evil.

13:41.342 --> 13:59.448
And man, since that day up until now, we just gravitate towards what makes sense to our carnal mind, and we've been taught by our parents, by society, by this whole world system do good, get good, do bad, get bad.

14:01.168 --> 14:02.537
You're saying, yeah, isn't that Christianity?

14:02.819 --> 14:09.405
No, while you were yet a sinner, christ died for you Under grace.

14:09.465 --> 14:10.789
You do bad, you get good.

14:11.526 --> 14:12.718
See, I knew it.

14:13.725 --> 14:14.933
You say that kind of stuff.

14:15.175 --> 14:15.960
Everybody's going to lose their minds.

14:16.683 --> 14:17.928
Start swinging from the light bulbs.

14:18.682 --> 14:25.879
You'll go to the bathroom, pastor, come back up and they'll be building a golden calf running around here, half naked, just over strength getting cast.

14:26.743 --> 14:38.130
No, that's not how it works, because when you really see his beauty, when you see the cross, when you understand what he has done for you and inside of you, you are transformed and you are changed.

14:40.423 --> 14:42.960
Paul called the law the ministry of death, the ministry of condemnation.

14:43.482 --> 14:45.789
He also said the strength of sin is in the law.

14:46.262 --> 14:50.646
The more you preach law, law, law, you know what you're going to get Not holiness, more sin.

14:52.822 --> 14:56.691
The more you preach grace, true grace, biblical grace.

14:58.523 --> 15:06.627
In Romans we learn that grace not only establishes you firmly in the new covenant, declares you not guilty, but also it's an empowerment against sin.

15:09.241 --> 15:12.960
You see, true holiness come out of you, but through actually no self-effort of your own.

15:13.823 --> 15:19.558
So you can't get religious pride, you can't become haughty of how you cleaned your life up.

15:19.839 --> 15:28.990
No, all you did was yield, all you did was acknowledge that you died with him and then his life sprang up.

15:30.317 --> 15:30.940
But yeah, man is messed up.

15:31.482 --> 15:36.268
We always gravitate towards the law, but we need to shun it and not mix it.

15:37.926 --> 15:40.885
For if the first covenant had been faultless, the first covenant.

15:40.945 --> 15:42.593
The old covenant had been faultless.

15:43.136 --> 15:43.960
That means there was a fault with it.

15:44.261 --> 15:47.960
There was a problem, then no place would have been sought for a second.

15:48.384 --> 15:51.365
Yet even in the old there's prophetic words that a new one is coming.

15:52.508 --> 15:52.830
Why?

15:53.040 --> 15:54.366
What was the problem with the old?

15:55.404 --> 15:56.960
Because finding fault with them?

15:57.521 --> 16:00.689
The problem with the old is that God found fault with them.

16:02.561 --> 16:02.882
Do you know?

16:02.922 --> 16:04.666
God doesn't have that problem under the new?

16:08.942 --> 16:14.548
You who've received Jesus, you who've put your faith in him, god does not find any fault in you.

16:14.870 --> 16:15.312
What do you mean?

16:15.473 --> 16:16.900
But what about those issues I'm working on?

16:17.402 --> 16:18.285
He doesn't see them.

16:19.963 --> 16:21.808
You have non-imputation of sin.

16:23.100 --> 16:25.105
The Bible says you have been made perfect.

16:25.326 --> 16:25.627
In him.

16:28.842 --> 16:34.204
The Holy Spirit doesn't indwell sinful buildings, sinful vessels.

16:34.565 --> 16:35.950
Yet the Holy Spirit indwells you.

16:36.201 --> 16:40.165
He's been given to you because your sin has been stripped away, taken completely out of the way.

16:41.562 --> 16:42.888
So he doesn't find any fault with you.

16:43.202 --> 16:48.068
The problem with the old is he found fault with them still, because the law can never justify you.

16:49.153 --> 16:49.534
Why?

16:49.876 --> 16:50.940
Why did he still find fault with them?

16:51.281 --> 16:52.466
What was the problem with the old?

16:52.980 --> 16:55.989
The problem with the old was the problem with everything Us.

16:57.161 --> 16:59.823
We were in the equation Under the old God.

16:59.863 --> 17:07.920
The Father had a covenant with the people, guess, who kept breaking their side of the bargain, the people they kept messing up and messing up and messing up.

17:08.884 --> 17:11.888
So God had a solution Under the new.

17:12.831 --> 17:18.751
It's Christ in you, the hope of glory, who's keeping your side of the covenant intact.

17:19.202 --> 17:20.475
So you have God, the Father.

17:20.495 --> 17:27.934
He made a covenant and, on your behalf, jesus is forever keeping your end of the bargain.

17:29.086 --> 17:35.940
He's forever upholding the covenant in your place, so that God will not find fault and so that you cannot take any credit.

17:36.321 --> 17:41.426
And guess what also you can then do Rest, rest.

17:44.922 --> 17:47.890
It can be a peace that he's got you.

17:49.161 --> 18:15.145
You won't mess this thing up Because, finding fault with them, he says behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to leave them out of the land of Egypt because they did not continue in my covenant, says the Lord, hallelujah.

18:16.040 --> 18:20.233
Well, let's begin in Galatians, chapter two, starting in verse one.

18:20.253 --> 18:22.899
We're going to go line upon line, precept upon precept.

18:23.782 --> 18:26.149
I encourage you to pay attention.

18:27.341 --> 18:31.225
Rewatch the broadcast on YouTube, listen to the podcast.

18:32.060 --> 18:33.827
This isn't something that you'll get overnight.

18:34.687 --> 18:35.960
For a lot of you, a lot of questions will be raised.

18:36.502 --> 18:38.689
This is a journey our church has been on for decades.

18:39.823 --> 18:43.960
Just this year of 2023, we went through Romans six, seven and eight.

18:45.023 --> 18:46.888
If you haven't watched those sermons, they're online.

18:48.482 --> 19:00.092
We had summer life groups, all based on grace, and now we're doing this whole series Because a church that's fully living, with no mixture, still remains to restonged and the new covenant is a blessed church.

19:00.787 --> 19:03.872
It's a church that knows all the things that have been freely given to them by God.

19:04.186 --> 19:05.330
It's a victorious church.

19:07.086 --> 19:08.504
You wanna see a church that has mixture.

19:08.565 --> 19:11.053
You're gonna find Christians who have a spiritual insecurity.

19:12.145 --> 19:26.412
They're living under condemnation, they're living under shame, they don't have boldness and they constantly they may not admit it, but secretly just seems like they're trying to appease an unappeasable master.

19:27.545 --> 19:34.234
But when you understand grace, you can rest and know that he looks at you through the blood of Jesus and you are well pleasing to him.

19:35.925 --> 19:39.716
And no, this does not produce laziness, it doesn't.

19:41.787 --> 19:42.093
I know.

19:42.865 --> 19:45.293
I know who gets most excited about this message of grace.

19:46.067 --> 19:49.310
If we had evangelism right after service, they'd be the first ones to say I'm going too.

19:50.425 --> 19:53.411
If we had four days of fasting, they'd be the first ones to fast.

19:53.745 --> 19:56.249
If we had a building campaign, they'd be the first ones to give.

19:58.190 --> 20:02.305
From the outside, someone would say I feel like they'd be the last ones Cause you just you keep preaching.

20:02.385 --> 20:04.192
God will love you whether you do it or not.

20:04.765 --> 20:05.990
Yeah, grace blows your mind.

20:06.565 --> 20:08.432
Grace is upside down topsy-turvy.

20:09.105 --> 20:12.195
Grace is unlike anything the world has ever, ever seen before.

20:14.265 --> 20:15.410
It's the mystery of grace.

20:17.705 --> 20:21.252
I tell people that they're not cursed by God if they don't tithe and our giving goes up.

20:23.491 --> 20:28.489
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah.

20:30.205 --> 20:31.931
So here, what's happening with the Galatians?

20:33.025 --> 20:39.394
A group called the Judaizers has crept in, and the Judaizers are Christians in a sense.

20:39.665 --> 20:44.635
They believe in Jesus, but they also believe you had to keep the law of Moses.

20:45.145 --> 20:52.752
So they crept in and they told, as an initial thing, they told all the men you have to get circumcised, cause that's the right of passage to becoming a Jew.

20:53.305 --> 20:55.372
And Paul loses his mind.

20:55.945 --> 21:10.330
It's the angriest you ever see him, the most passionate, the most emotional you ever see him, cause he realizes if you mix even a little bit, it's like drinking a glass of water that's 99% pure water but 1% arsenic.

21:10.405 --> 21:11.309
Would you drink that water?

21:11.745 --> 21:17.552
No, he says mixture will nullify, it, will frustrate the grace of God.

21:17.945 --> 21:20.173
You cannot have any mixture.

21:20.725 --> 21:25.317
Yet way too many Christians are actually living with mixture.

21:27.585 --> 21:31.131
So he's bringing some order here and some much needed correction here.

21:31.686 --> 21:33.392
And we left in Galatians, chapter one.

21:34.165 --> 21:40.546
He's essentially telling you his travel plans, not because he needed filler material to fill up the New Testament with, but he's just.

21:42.151 --> 22:01.154
He wants everybody to know, he wants his listeners to understand, that he got the gospel of grace supernaturally directly from God, but he didn't get it alone in some bush in the wilderness, but that he actually went to Jerusalem and met with all the top apostles and they confirmed.

22:01.325 --> 22:03.729
They said, yeah, that thing that you got, that's what we got.

22:04.065 --> 22:05.892
We're under a different dispensation.

22:06.265 --> 22:07.831
We're under a different system of order.

22:08.225 --> 22:15.273
It's no longer us endeavoring to be approved onto God based on our own effort, but it's through Jesus and what he did for us.

22:15.685 --> 22:17.592
And that's essentially what he's getting into now.

22:18.025 --> 22:26.571
Then, after 14 years, I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas and also took Titus with me, and I went up by revelation.

22:28.005 --> 22:30.769
That doesn't mean he teleported out of his body into Jerusalem.

22:31.145 --> 22:33.393
It just means that nobody invited him.

22:33.565 --> 22:38.529
He didn't get an Evi, no singing telegram, no card in the mail.

22:39.125 --> 22:40.029
The Lord told him to go.

22:40.069 --> 22:48.472
And he says I went up by revelation because the Lord told me to go and communicated to them that gospel, the gospel of grace, and I let him know what I was preaching.

22:49.285 --> 22:52.535
I was preaching Jesus plus nothing equals everything.

22:54.245 --> 23:00.268
Mixture comes in and says Jesus plus well, some stuff you gotta do to help us save your out equals everything.

23:00.710 --> 23:07.753
No, when it comes to your approval and justification before God, there's nothing you can contribute.

23:08.865 --> 23:13.033
This either relieves people or, to the religiously proud, it upsets them.

23:16.814 --> 23:26.277
It upsets them because they realized, wow, that scorecard they were keeping, that they thought God was keeping, doesn't actually exist and really exposes your motives.

23:29.745 --> 23:41.409
That gospel, which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to those who are of reputation, lest by any means I might run or had run in vain, here's what Paul is saying.

23:43.109 --> 23:44.313
I'll let you know when the next verse.

23:49.305 --> 23:53.656
He's saying I met with the head apostles in Jerusalem.

23:55.225 --> 23:59.227
This is like the original 11, plus a few more, the 18,.

24:00.451 --> 24:04.874
They were in Jerusalem and I came to check out this gospel of grace.

24:04.965 --> 24:06.271
I wanted to make sure I wasn't off.

24:06.365 --> 24:08.092
I wanted to make sure we were on the same page.

24:08.645 --> 24:11.388
But to those who are of the highest reputation, I did it privately.

24:11.428 --> 24:15.551
He's not saying I did it privately because if they rebuked me I didn't want to get corrected in public.

24:15.985 --> 24:24.304
He's saying in case there was some debate, in case there was some arguing, we won't cause a ruckus amongst all the Christians in Jerusalem, but it was done privately.

24:24.365 --> 24:25.249
Are you catching that church?

24:28.425 --> 24:30.132
Okay, verse three.

24:33.085 --> 24:38.593
Yet not even Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised.

24:39.928 --> 24:43.737
And verse four and this occurred because of false brethren.

24:44.685 --> 25:06.352
He doesn't say confused brethren, he doesn't say well intentioned, well meaning brethren, he calls them false brethren, not even Christians, false brethren secretly brought in, who came in by stealth to spy out our liberty, which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage.

25:07.525 --> 25:11.551
By the way, that very word, religion, the root of it, is back to bondage.

25:12.765 --> 25:14.451
Religion is bondage.

25:14.752 --> 25:15.053
Why?

25:15.525 --> 25:18.248
Because religion takes your eyes off of Jesus and puts them on you.

25:18.725 --> 25:21.930
Religion says you have a part in a role to play in your own salvation.

25:22.245 --> 25:23.229
You have to help us save.

25:23.250 --> 25:23.571
You're out.

25:23.825 --> 25:28.330
You have to contribute to the already finished work of the cross and nothing can be further from the truth.

25:32.518 --> 25:42.231
Oh Lord, listen, here I am in 2023, talking about Judaizers, and you can almost feel well, okay, how does this apply to me today?

25:43.565 --> 25:52.209
Because we're not in the first century dealing with a group who's gonna come in and ask men to be circumcised, but we are dealing with modern day Judaizers all of the time.

25:53.306 --> 26:03.014
Anyone who would get you to do stuff to earn God's favor, to be more loved by God, to be more approved unto God, is a Judaizer.

26:03.486 --> 26:17.634
Any teaching that puts a burden on you to do things to win God's affection more, to do things that will contribute to your own right standing with God, is a false teacher, judaizer.

26:20.005 --> 26:25.514
Because Jesus plus nothing equals everything, and it comes in all different shapes and sizes.

26:26.945 --> 26:35.335
Here's a very, very subtle one, a teaching I heard all in my Christian life when the praises go up, the blessings come down.

26:35.405 --> 26:36.108
How many of you heard that?

26:37.705 --> 26:40.234
And you may even believe it, but it's not true.

26:43.408 --> 26:55.593
It's a very initial Judaizing move, because what that does is it makes you really important and it sets up God, the Father, in this strange, bizarre transactional way.

26:56.265 --> 26:58.993
Like God, the Father is really, really insecure.

26:59.845 --> 27:06.893
He needs to be reminded how awesome he is and he's got these blessings, though he's insecure but almighty and he's keeping them from you.

27:07.985 --> 27:25.951
But if you tell him you're awesome enough, if you worship him loud enough, if you praise him enough, he'll come around to you and so as your praises go up, he'll be like you know, this guy's not so bad, he's gonna change my mind, all right, he just kicks down.

27:25.971 --> 27:26.834
All right, have some crumbs.

27:27.785 --> 27:41.031
Here you go and we're like eh, it's this weird old covenanti appeasing a God that can never be appeased type system that's being communicated through that.

27:41.125 --> 27:42.030
What's the reality?

27:42.225 --> 27:54.652
The reality is is that you have already according to Ephesians 1, 3, you have already been blessed with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places, in Christ, when you praise.

27:55.534 --> 27:56.838
Praise is the language of heaven.

27:57.725 --> 28:04.196
Praise causes you to come on the same frequency, the same vibration, the same divine stream as heaven.

28:04.465 --> 28:07.887
And as you praise him, you're not paying God for blessings.

28:07.927 --> 28:12.072
With your praises, you're not putting in self effort to now.

28:12.112 --> 28:15.369
He loves you more and he's gonna throw down something to you that he wouldn't normally do.

28:16.325 --> 28:18.388
You're just becoming more aware when you praise.

28:18.428 --> 28:21.029
You're becoming more aware of what you already have.

28:22.185 --> 28:30.352
In fact, paul says the Holy Spirit has been given to you that you may know the things that have already past tense been freely given to you by God.

28:32.125 --> 28:32.707
Like fasting.

28:32.787 --> 28:34.293
People think fasting changes God.

28:34.865 --> 28:38.893
No, that's a hunger strike and nothing you could ever do to can cause God.

28:39.405 --> 28:40.750
Fasting doesn't change God.

28:41.385 --> 28:43.012
That's a law way of looking at it.

28:43.325 --> 28:48.254
Fasting changes you and now you can receive what he's already given you better.

28:48.945 --> 28:50.251
Praise doesn't change God.

28:50.365 --> 28:51.570
It doesn't change his mind about you.

28:52.285 --> 28:52.948
It changes you.

28:54.625 --> 28:58.590
It seems so subtle, but beware the Judaizers.

29:00.305 --> 29:02.051
Don't give them space even for a little bit.

29:03.005 --> 29:16.511
And there's Judaizers out there in the form of compromised, teaching, legalistic pastors, because they don't really trust the Holy Spirit in you, so they feel that they gotta put you under the law to extract the right kind of behavior from you.

29:18.337 --> 29:24.297
No, there's a better way, the Jesus way, the new covenant way.

29:24.846 --> 29:31.565
And this occurred because of false brethren, secretly brought in, who came in by stealth to spy out our liberty.

29:31.848 --> 29:33.344
Religious people hate freedom.

29:34.751 --> 29:45.645
They hate liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us back into bondage, to whom we did not yield submission even for an hour.

29:45.786 --> 29:48.225
And that's how you need to be in your life.

29:48.366 --> 29:53.670
Do not yield submission to anyone who would try to get you to mix systems, mix covenants.

29:55.167 --> 29:56.003
Let me stop right there.

29:56.791 --> 30:02.498
You know there are red flags to know when you're accidentally or inadvertently mixing covenants.

30:04.056 --> 30:07.616
If you're under guilt, shame, condemnation, you're mixing covenants.

30:09.136 --> 30:11.564
If you get a religious pride from your good works, you're mixing covenants.

30:11.665 --> 30:12.548
You're mixing covenants.

30:14.965 --> 30:17.934
If you ever feel far from God, you're mixing covenants.

30:19.925 --> 30:23.069
Because you've been brought near Pastor, what if I fall away?

30:23.150 --> 30:23.571
What do you think?

30:23.611 --> 30:24.313
You abandoned you.

30:24.885 --> 30:25.848
You're a fair weather friend.

30:33.032 --> 30:34.797
In fact, I forgot how I stumbled upon this.

30:34.925 --> 30:55.605
There was something from some witches' coven and they were partnering with the enemy and I remembered all the phrasing was this is getting a little odd, but all the phrasing was he's, they were enlisting different spirits and they were saying how they will borrow your power, how you will borrow their power, borrow their power.

30:55.625 --> 30:56.851
And I just thought you know that's interesting.

30:56.945 --> 30:59.187
The Lord never lends, he only gives.

31:01.005 --> 31:04.175
A demon will come and loan you its power, but it's on loan.

31:04.767 --> 31:05.027
Do you know?

31:05.088 --> 31:06.988
God never even loans you anything, he just gives.

31:07.745 --> 31:16.473
That's why some people say, hey, that was a preacher and he had a crazy sinful life and meanwhile he built a giant church mega ministry.

31:16.533 --> 31:17.535
God flowed through him.

31:17.575 --> 31:18.237
How did that happen.

31:18.625 --> 31:22.115
He had a secret, dark side, because that's how God is.

31:22.585 --> 31:26.656
The Bible says that the gifts and the callings of God are irrevocable.

31:27.065 --> 31:28.228
No backsies with God.

31:29.711 --> 31:31.194
He doesn't even loan, he just gives you.

31:31.515 --> 31:32.497
You want to be a knucklehead?

31:32.785 --> 31:33.668
You want to mess that whole thing up?

31:33.689 --> 31:35.729
That's on you, but God just gives.

31:37.769 --> 31:40.688
Oh, hallelujah, man, you can feel the wheels grinding right now.

31:47.385 --> 31:49.673
This is why we're doing eight weeks for six chapters.

31:50.285 --> 31:55.393
I'm going to try to hit and if you have any questions for a lot of connection card, email us.

31:56.965 --> 31:57.950
We'll review the questions.

31:58.025 --> 31:59.451
I want to answer some of your questions.

31:59.665 --> 32:00.549
This should rattle you.

32:00.865 --> 32:01.789
This should unnerve you.

32:02.225 --> 32:03.168
This should even anger you.

32:04.545 --> 32:06.309
Should anger you that you weren't told this sooner.

32:09.625 --> 32:10.307
Verse six, please.

32:13.265 --> 32:16.694
But those who seem to be something, and Paul's just talking about what went down in Jerusalem.

32:17.825 --> 32:19.249
But those who seem to be something.

32:19.349 --> 32:21.314
Whatever they were, makes no difference to me.

32:22.385 --> 32:24.692
God shows personal favoritism to no man.

32:25.965 --> 32:27.492
I just chuckle at that verse.

32:27.665 --> 32:33.251
You just picture Paul in Jerusalem in the green room, bunch of celebrity apostles walking around.

32:34.665 --> 32:37.226
There's Paul still has missionary dust on his face and he's like.

32:37.246 --> 32:40.535
You know, these guys don't add anything to me.

32:41.465 --> 32:42.449
They seem to be something.

32:42.529 --> 32:43.192
Whatever they were.

32:44.428 --> 32:45.592
It makes no difference to me.

32:46.545 --> 32:48.593
God shows personal favoritism to no man.

32:48.705 --> 32:51.975
For those who seem to be, something added nothing to me.

32:52.465 --> 32:56.355
He's saying they didn't add anything to this gospel of grace that I received by revelation.

32:57.105 --> 33:19.193
But on the contrary, when they saw that the gospel for the uncircumcised that's us Gentiles had been committed to me as the gospel for the circumcised was to Peter, for he who worked effectively in Peter for the apostleship to the circumcised, also worked effectively in me toward the Gentiles.

33:21.165 --> 33:37.694
And when James, cephas and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that had been given to me, they gave me in Barnabas the right hand of fellowship that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.

33:37.995 --> 33:39.466
What is all this about Paul?

33:39.988 --> 33:41.514
He realizes he has a battle here.

33:41.705 --> 33:43.231
The Galatians have been compromised.

33:43.925 --> 33:50.770
He even says later Fulish Galatians, who has bewitched you, who has hypnotized you, that you do not obey the truth.

33:50.865 --> 33:53.854
You actually allowed covenant mixture into your community.

33:54.745 --> 34:04.490
He realizes he's going to have to set a posture where they understand who he is and why he's preaching this gospel.

34:04.665 --> 34:18.974
So he reminds them hey, I didn't get this revelation again out in the wilderness sleeping in some cave, but I got it from the Lord, and then I went to Jerusalem and submitted it to the other chief apostles and they all agreed with me.

34:19.265 --> 34:23.811
They said that what you got, we got, and they laid hands on me and Barnabas and blessed us.

34:24.132 --> 34:29.252
We'll go out to the Gentiles, peter will go out to the Jews, but it's a big confirmation of this message.

34:29.385 --> 34:30.048
Are you catching that?

34:31.185 --> 34:38.370
He's essentially name dropping a little bit and saying, hey, I'm not just in a bad mood writing to you out of nowhere.

34:39.225 --> 34:40.088
This is confirmed.

34:41.865 --> 34:42.206
Verse 10,.

34:42.226 --> 34:49.208
They desired only that we should remember the poor, the very thing which I also was eager to do.

34:50.505 --> 34:51.829
Can you just go back to verse five?

34:51.929 --> 35:00.670
Please Just go back to verse five, because I wanted you to see that phrase that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.

35:02.425 --> 35:04.271
This is what has Paul sew up in arms.

35:06.047 --> 35:08.293
This is the entire theme of the book of Galatians.

35:09.625 --> 35:10.931
What is the truth of the gospel?

35:11.865 --> 35:14.451
The truth of the gospel is Jesus.

35:14.571 --> 35:16.615
Plus nothing equals everything.

35:18.447 --> 35:20.058
Get that.

35:20.065 --> 35:21.912
What a relief will come to you when you get that.

35:22.565 --> 35:24.972
What a peace and arrest will come to you when you get that.

35:26.385 --> 35:37.780
What a sweet intimacy that'll develop between you and the Lord when you get that, as when you're weak, when you fall short, satan who comes with a hiss.

35:38.944 --> 35:42.152
His name in the Hebrew is Hasatan the accuser.

35:43.825 --> 35:44.950
Who does he accuse you to?

35:45.566 --> 35:46.931
Well, he accuses you to God.

35:46.951 --> 35:48.295
But you know who else he accuses you to.

35:48.505 --> 35:52.697
He accuses you to you, masquerading as your own internal monologue.

35:53.287 --> 35:59.207
He says you're weak, you always fail, you're dirty, you're no good, you can't live up to.

35:59.287 --> 36:04.090
God is tired of you and you think it's you thinking that Some people think it's God talking to them.

36:05.425 --> 36:11.715
This is why, by the way, this is why this is a statistic from a decade and a half ago.

36:11.785 --> 36:12.649
It might be even worse now.

36:13.065 --> 36:18.457
For every person, every Christian sitting in church, there's 50 prodigals who've fallen away.

36:19.446 --> 36:20.570
Do you know why they fall away?

36:21.345 --> 36:29.253
They fall away because they get tired of themselves doing Christianity under the old covenant and they feel that God has given up on them.

36:29.665 --> 36:32.070
They've given up on them, so what's the point of going to church?

36:32.705 --> 36:33.569
And they just backslide.

36:36.593 --> 36:43.873
But when you know he's with you, a friend that sticks closer than the brother, when you know that, even if you're in the sewers of sin, I brow deep.

36:44.534 --> 36:48.370
He's still loving you and he's still holding your hand, pulling you through.

36:48.390 --> 36:54.122
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah.

36:54.142 --> 36:57.511
Okay, let's go to verse.

36:57.551 --> 36:58.514
I think we were on 11.

36:59.886 --> 37:03.035
10, about the poor, and then 11.

37:03.725 --> 37:11.939
Now, when Peter had come to Antioch, I would stood him to his face because he was to be blamed.

37:12.665 --> 37:18.053
So we have the Judaizers, but the apostle Paul is saying Peter, yes, our Peter, the disciple with the foot-shaped mouth from the gospels.

37:19.248 --> 37:20.973
He's saying he's a big problem in all this.

37:21.465 --> 37:22.468
So I would stood Peter.

37:23.592 --> 37:24.154
What happened?

37:24.705 --> 37:31.698
Verse 12, for before certain men came from James, he would eat with the Gentiles.

37:34.729 --> 37:36.653
Under the law you're not supposed to eat with Gentiles.

37:36.874 --> 37:40.088
But Peter knew he wasn't under the law anymore, he knew he was under grace.

37:41.665 --> 37:48.432
But when they came, whoever these certain men were, he liked them, he wanted to impress them, he wanted a good reputation with them.

37:48.945 --> 37:54.978
But when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision.

37:55.546 --> 37:57.792
Holy cow, this is deep.

37:59.845 --> 38:06.529
First of all, it's a public rebuke, and it's a public rebuke forever immortalized in the Holy Scriptures.

38:07.205 --> 38:08.449
What could have warranted that?

38:08.910 --> 38:10.134
What happened at that?

38:10.234 --> 38:10.695
You know what it was.

38:11.025 --> 38:11.869
It was a church potluck dinner.

38:13.549 --> 38:15.254
It was what they used to have in a gapé feast.

38:15.505 --> 38:18.114
This wasn't some fancy ceremony, church potluck dinner.

38:18.565 --> 38:27.312
And Peter goes oh look, there are those guys, they're under the law and if I eat with Gentiles they're going to look at me funny.

38:27.352 --> 38:29.770
So I'll separate myself and I'll eat with the Gentiles.

38:30.305 --> 38:34.631
And Paul says dad, it's horrible, what a message you're sending out, peter.

38:35.925 --> 38:39.695
If anybody should have known, if anybody should have stood strong, it's Peter.

38:39.835 --> 38:40.256
You know why?

38:40.925 --> 38:48.949
Peter was the first person to get the revelation that the Gentiles were also welcome into the kingdom through Jesus.

38:49.865 --> 38:50.687
He should have stood strong.

38:50.727 --> 38:53.214
But you have a little bit of the old Peter coming out, don't you?

38:54.105 --> 39:01.873
Peter, who was a man pleaser, the Peter who wasn't completely set free from the opinions of others, the fear of man, peter.

39:03.605 --> 39:14.976
And Paul says this is so bad because what you're essentially saying is you have to keep the law of Moses, and we know we're no longer under a system where we have to do things to be approved.

39:16.085 --> 39:21.286
Hey, you know what's also encouraging there, peter?

39:21.347 --> 39:31.273
This was like over 10, 15 years after, on the day of Pentecost, peter preached that fiery message and 3,000 were saved, and he still was a work in progress.

39:31.433 --> 39:35.590
Amen, okay, I guess I'm just excited about that.

39:35.650 --> 39:36.914
Everybody else has arrived.

39:37.426 --> 39:44.195
So they're like good news for you, pastor, me I'm all right For before.

39:47.973 --> 39:49.436
Oh, next, verse verse 13.

39:50.065 --> 39:59.471
And the rest of the Jews also played the hypocrite with him, so that even Barnabas now, if anybody should have known it was Barnabas, barnabas was Paul's sidekick.

40:00.065 --> 40:01.590
They're like the Holy Ghost dynamic duo.

40:03.145 --> 40:16.506
Barnabas got that same gospel of grace alongside with Paul, but Barnabas fell into it and played the hypocrite with them, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy Verse 14,.

40:19.732 --> 40:27.131
But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before them all you got to love Paul.

40:34.152 --> 40:37.559
Listen, this is the minister of grace.

40:37.705 --> 40:39.050
You'd look how he acts sometimes.

40:40.606 --> 40:50.115
And during the lockdowns and all that I would, people were just remember how brainwashed people were and how angry people were and how fascistic some people became.

40:51.625 --> 40:55.636
And there was a woman who'd been with me for years, sat in the second row and I thought it was my imagination.

40:55.825 --> 41:00.187
She would start to distract me every time I talked about the lockdowns or COVID or what was happening.

41:01.405 --> 41:04.534
And at first I thought it was just my imagination, but she was visibly distract.

41:04.554 --> 41:05.055
She hated it.

41:05.725 --> 41:07.049
She sent messages to pastor.

41:07.069 --> 41:08.112
Can he just stick with the word?

41:09.947 --> 41:11.051
Yeah, I'm sticking with the word.

41:12.465 --> 41:13.948
So, out of my spirit.

41:14.008 --> 41:14.970
I didn't get in the flesh.

41:15.071 --> 41:16.253
I promise I get in the flesh.

41:16.394 --> 41:17.496
I'll let you know I get in.

41:17.516 --> 41:19.207
The flesh Media team will let you know.

41:19.248 --> 41:20.271
Get in the flesh all the time.

41:21.025 --> 41:26.376
This wasn't me getting in the flesh, but the Bible says rebuke publicly that the others may fear, even under grace.

41:26.396 --> 41:28.570
There is an element and I rebuke you publicly.

41:30.945 --> 41:33.930
You want to distract me publicly, you'll get rebuke publicly.

41:35.115 --> 41:37.104
Hallelujah, amen.

41:39.369 --> 41:47.614
That we would preserve what the Lord is doing here, paul.

41:47.914 --> 41:55.213
He rebukes him publicly and says to Peter if you, being a Jew, live in the manner of Gentiles and not as the Jews, here's what Paul is saying.

41:55.745 --> 42:03.770
Paul is saying Peter, you're living under grace, you're Jewish and you've been set free and you don't live as a Jew anymore.

42:04.626 --> 42:05.570
I know what happened, peter.

42:05.985 --> 42:15.331
Peter, in order to understand that Gentiles were welcomed into the kingdom, he had a vision of a large sheet descending from heaven and in the sheet was all manner of animals.

42:15.652 --> 42:16.514
And he heard a voice.

42:16.745 --> 42:19.193
It was the Lord's voice saying rise, peter, kill and eat.

42:19.645 --> 42:23.996
And Peter, being a holy Jew, said no, no, lord, nothing unclean has ever touched my lips.

42:24.545 --> 42:28.035
And the Lord thundered back what I have cleansed, call not thou unclean.

42:28.586 --> 42:30.325
Remember that from the book of Acts.

42:30.345 --> 42:31.107
And what there really was.

42:31.167 --> 42:32.852
It wasn't so much about the dietary law.

42:32.872 --> 42:37.314
It was the Lord saying Gentiles, whom you call unclean, are now welcome into the kingdom.

42:37.745 --> 42:39.652
But it also meant the dietary law was wrong.

42:40.045 --> 42:42.737
And Paul is saying Peter, you had that vision on Tuesday.

42:43.320 --> 42:45.990
On Wednesday in the morning, I saw you having bacon and eggs.

42:47.745 --> 42:48.890
You don't even live as a Jew.

42:49.105 --> 42:51.453
You were so happy that night you went to a restaurant.

42:51.945 --> 42:53.191
You ordered shrimp and lobster.

42:53.566 --> 42:54.148
I saw you.

42:56.465 --> 43:01.914
You, a Jew, don't live like a Jew, you're living in freedom, but you compel others to live under bondage.

43:02.705 --> 43:04.147
It's like a message for ministers.

43:04.869 --> 43:15.634
Ministers who they themselves know the freedom of grace, but they manipulate people with that spirit of Old Testament bondage.

43:17.105 --> 43:21.340
That's why I never hide what I have I'm talking about materially.

43:22.155 --> 43:22.898
There are preachers.

43:23.460 --> 43:27.177
They are so blessed Because, look, when you plug into Jesus you may not like.

43:27.297 --> 43:30.803
When you plug into Jesus, he's the God of abundance, he's the God of prosperity.

43:31.095 --> 43:32.400
You're gonna be financially blessed.

43:33.095 --> 43:39.099
But they hide it because they're afraid of what people will say and they're gonna stand before God and God.

43:39.500 --> 43:45.602
They will have to give an account on why they didn't let other people have access into that prosperity and abundance.

43:45.915 --> 43:48.900
But they played like they were poor, but secretly they were hiding things.

43:52.138 --> 43:52.740
No, I'm not gonna hide.

43:52.760 --> 43:53.222
I'm blessed.

43:54.735 --> 43:59.557
That is blessed me, amen, he's blessed me.

44:00.019 --> 44:06.704
So I in turn can preach to you, bless you back and tell you about a wonderful, wonderful, generous, opulent God.

44:08.536 --> 44:10.222
Hallelujah, I'm free.

44:13.259 --> 44:14.122
I'm sin free.

44:15.035 --> 44:16.060
I know that I'm beloved.

44:16.675 --> 44:21.662
So I'm not gonna manipulate you and tell you God's not gonna be pleased with you, he's gonna be angry if you miss church on Sunday.

44:23.595 --> 44:24.419
He'll love you the same.

44:24.935 --> 44:26.562
You lose out, you miss out.

44:27.035 --> 44:28.781
See, this is where people miss it with works.

44:30.275 --> 44:32.222
You're not saved by your works.

44:34.775 --> 44:36.702
You don't score points with God with your works.

44:37.335 --> 44:49.382
But works such as church attendance, being nice to people, tithing, praying, bible study, evangelism those are all phenomenal things.

44:50.015 --> 44:54.123
Those are things we should do, but not to gain God's favor we already have it.

44:54.655 --> 44:56.141
Not to gain justification.

44:56.582 --> 44:59.223
As it is, we've already been justified and declared not guilty.

44:59.975 --> 45:06.242
They're now a thank you back, hallelujah, and again somebody who doesn't get grace.

45:06.315 --> 45:09.621
They'll be like I can't believe he's preaching that he's not gonna have anybody in church next Sunday.

45:10.495 --> 45:12.784
No, we just keep getting bigger, more financially.

45:12.995 --> 45:16.339
The more I tell people you're not cursed if you don't tithe, the more our finances go up.

45:18.064 --> 45:22.701
Amen, grace does not make sense.

45:23.936 --> 45:24.800
Go, blow your mind.

45:27.195 --> 45:28.943
Another reason why he's talking about all.

45:28.995 --> 45:30.622
Let me just we're gonna get back to Peter.

45:31.035 --> 45:36.885
Another reason why he's getting into all the history of how he went to Jerusalem and met with all these people.

45:36.975 --> 45:38.582
He's establishing some facts.

45:38.655 --> 45:43.541
He's saying this gospel of grace the world has never seen anything like it.

45:47.415 --> 45:48.058
It's brand new.

45:49.255 --> 45:53.106
Every single world religion in essence function the same.

45:55.035 --> 46:00.785
It's an unappeasable God or gods, and they say you do good, you get good, you do bad, you get bad.

46:01.195 --> 46:02.675
There's like a million world religions that.

46:02.856 --> 46:03.860
That's their foundation.

46:04.475 --> 46:05.861
Grace is the exact opposite.

46:06.455 --> 46:09.083
Never before, never since, has the world seen a faith like this.

46:10.135 --> 46:12.342
And Paul is saying I got that mind blowing.

46:13.255 --> 46:20.859
I went to Jerusalem and a whole other group of people got the same thing and we never even conversed, we never communicated.

46:21.375 --> 46:22.581
That's why he's writing all this.

46:22.675 --> 46:29.539
He's saying we know it's from the Lord, we know it's divine, just how it came to be, oh, hallelujah.

46:32.075 --> 46:35.795
But when I saw that they were, oh, I missed that part.

46:35.875 --> 46:42.586
But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel that's the second time the apostle Paul uses that phrase the truth of the gospel.

46:43.235 --> 46:44.245
What's the truth of the gospel?

46:46.642 --> 46:48.109
Say it with me, jesus.

46:48.169 --> 46:49.235
Plus nothing equals everything.

46:50.075 --> 47:13.403
All right, if you, being a Jew, live in the manner of Gentiles and not as the Jews, why do you compel Gentiles to live as Jews, we who are Jews by nature and not sinners of the Gentiles, knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ.

47:14.635 --> 47:15.539
So we are not.

47:16.435 --> 47:19.024
We cannot be justified by the works of the law.

47:25.516 --> 47:41.105
Even we have believed in Christ Jesus that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.

47:45.757 --> 47:46.695
Can you just leave it on that?

47:46.795 --> 47:47.840
I'll let you know when to turn.

47:59.316 --> 48:02.681
When I used to do street evangelism, I made hours a day, every day, for years.

48:03.795 --> 48:06.083
I learned a lot about how your typical American thinks.

48:06.475 --> 48:20.403
How your typical American thinks has also changed in the last 20 years, but circa late 90s, early 2000s, when I was doing this, this would be the statistic About 85% of people who believe in a God not a total secular humanist, but believe in a God.

48:21.295 --> 48:41.984
When you talk to them about heaven and eternal things, what they immediately relay to you is their belief system on how it all works, and it's always something like this there is a giant scale in heaven, and on one side all the good deeds of their life fall, and on the other side all the bad deeds of their life fall, and if they're good, deeds outweigh their bad deeds.

48:42.035 --> 48:42.638
They go to heaven.

48:43.435 --> 48:45.857
If they're bad deeds outweigh their good deeds, they go to hell.

48:47.155 --> 48:50.001
And usually they say I think I'm going to heaven, I believe so, I hope so.

48:50.195 --> 48:51.540
I mean, I'm no Hitler.

48:51.600 --> 48:52.563
Ha ha, ha, ha, ha ha.

48:52.955 --> 48:53.718
That's always the joke.

48:54.835 --> 48:56.922
Everybody thinks that God is gonna compare them to Hitler.

48:58.055 --> 48:59.320
God doesn't compare you to Hitler.

49:01.017 --> 49:03.685
God doesn't compare you to Manson or some other serial killer.

49:04.255 --> 49:05.640
God compares you to himself.

49:07.035 --> 49:08.661
He compares you to his son, jesus.

49:09.935 --> 49:11.181
So we're all found lacking.

49:14.955 --> 49:20.860
If you put your confidence in your own works, your own good deeds, your own behavior, you are in big trouble.

49:21.636 --> 49:39.352
You could right now sell everything you have, withdraw money on your credit cards, go into debt, move out of America and pull a mother Teresa and go to Calcutta and spend the rest of your days clothing the poor and feeding the hungry.

49:39.372 --> 49:40.814
Spend decades like that and guess what?

49:42.468 --> 49:43.395
It will not be one notch on your belt.

49:43.617 --> 49:51.555
It won't be one credit to you if you're thinking that's gonna help with your salvation, if you think that's gonna put you in better standing with God.

49:52.968 --> 49:53.735
You wasted so many years.

49:53.775 --> 49:55.755
You cannot help us, save you out.

49:57.584 --> 49:59.715
You cannot add to the already finished work of the cross.

49:59.755 --> 50:00.278
He didn't cry out.

50:00.299 --> 50:02.151
It is almost finished.

50:02.836 --> 50:05.482
He cried out it is finished, done, done, done.

50:06.755 --> 50:10.068
And the old covenant is called the old covenant for a reason because it's done with.

50:10.976 --> 50:20.715
When I first got saved I thought when I said old covenant, I thought what that meant was older covenant, you know, like we got a newer one that was written like a couple of thousand years after the older one.

50:21.321 --> 50:24.000
So that's why we call it the old covenant, so that's why we call it the new.

50:24.795 --> 50:29.303
No one explained to me, you know, the old isn't an older and the new a newer version of the old.

50:29.996 --> 50:37.755
The old is called the old because we don't live under it anymore and the new is called the new because that's the system, the umbrella that we're under now.

50:38.497 --> 50:39.882
And it's such a better system.

50:41.036 --> 50:46.779
It's a system where there is now no condemnation in Christ Jesus, hallelujah.

50:47.755 --> 50:49.341
It's a system where you are already blessed.

50:49.936 --> 51:01.659
It's a system where you don't have to try to earn His favor, but grace is already undeserved, unmarried favor that he lavishes you with Hallelujah.

51:02.755 --> 51:20.755
That whole story of the prodigal son and the older brother, that older brother is the picture of a religious, judaizing church person who gets upset that some ex-druggy came in and God saved and next month has everything they've been praying for years for and they started listing their good deeds.

51:20.936 --> 51:26.564
Well, don't you know, I ushered in church and I cleaned up after I was a part of the worst team that set up tear down team.

51:26.755 --> 51:34.087
We all know that's the hardest team, lord, because you trusted in your own stuff that you did to score points.

51:35.697 --> 51:44.838
But if you know you're already fully qualified and now you still do these things, why should I do them if I'm not earning something You're?

51:44.878 --> 51:45.359
missing it.

51:46.001 --> 51:47.905
You do them because you've already been blessed.

51:48.835 --> 51:57.960
And when you do those things not trying to earn but because you've already, you're already blessed you're in the zone, you're in the good receiving zone.

52:02.177 --> 52:09.259
That last sentence for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified, verse 17.

52:11.936 --> 52:22.621
But if we notice it's in quotes, paul is quoting a question that probably came up at that potluck, that argument that they had.

52:24.116 --> 52:34.385
But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is Christ therefore a minister of sin?

52:35.599 --> 52:36.263
Certainly not.

52:36.323 --> 52:38.735
What a kind of a confusing verse.

52:39.136 --> 52:41.076
What does that mean, he's saying?

52:41.136 --> 52:48.804
If, under grace, we still have issues in our life, does that mean that Christ is a minister of sin?

52:49.795 --> 52:58.567
He echoed the same sentiment in a different way in Romans 6, when he said where sin is, grace abounds.

52:58.855 --> 53:02.125
Should we continue to sin that grace may abound?

53:02.755 --> 53:03.478
Certainly not.

53:04.755 --> 53:11.360
Because that's the first question that's going to cross all of our minds when we initially hear grace Is Jesus an enabler?

53:13.036 --> 53:15.384
Does he just turn a blind eye and enable us to do wrong?

53:15.956 --> 53:16.859
Absolutely not.

53:17.835 --> 53:22.415
The opposite happens under grace, oh hallelujah.

53:26.931 --> 53:27.594
Certainly not.

53:27.674 --> 53:28.337
Verse 18.

53:29.951 --> 53:49.412
For if I build again those things which I destroyed, if I build again the teaching of the old covenant of law, then I myself am a transgressor, for I, through the law, died to the law that I might live to God, verse 20,.

53:49.693 --> 53:51.217
I encourage every single person.

53:51.598 --> 53:54.877
Your homework this week is to memorize Galatians 2.20.

53:55.471 --> 53:59.101
I believe it was either the first, definitely the second verse in the Bible I ever memorized.

54:00.171 --> 54:02.338
Even back then the Lord knew this would be my life message.

54:04.171 --> 54:05.055
I didn't even know what it meant.

54:05.310 --> 54:13.777
I was just listening to the old bishop preach on my Walkman and I loved the way he quoted it, so I memorized it in his voice.

54:13.850 --> 54:22.537
Seriously, I remember pacing around my parents' bedroom with a Walkman and I was like I have been never, I won't do it.

54:24.212 --> 54:25.778
But he was an aha preacher.

54:26.971 --> 54:28.296
So there was 16-year-old me.

54:29.071 --> 54:32.136
Yeah, that's true story, but I did it over.

54:32.156 --> 54:34.590
I just loved he had this texture in his voice.

54:34.751 --> 54:39.290
It just was like, with the richness of God, I have been crucified with Christ.

54:39.511 --> 54:43.481
It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.

54:44.992 --> 54:54.119
So you might say now, pastor, this freedom, this victory over sin, this whole new covenant thing, how is it activated?

54:55.610 --> 54:58.898
We established it's not activated by you trying really hard.

54:59.981 --> 55:01.574
So what do you do you yield?

55:02.410 --> 55:03.455
What do you yield to?

55:04.070 --> 55:08.081
You yield to the past tense fact that you died.

55:09.251 --> 55:11.258
You died 2,000 years ago.

55:11.691 --> 55:20.460
You died 3 ways to 3 things you died to the law, you died to sin and you died to your sin nature.

55:22.010 --> 55:22.732
Now you go.

55:22.753 --> 55:25.340
I don't know, my life doesn't always reflect that, I know that.

55:26.510 --> 55:38.055
But the more you believe that, the more you appropriate that by faith, the more you will experience that you want more freedom.

55:38.712 --> 55:41.160
You want more new covenant realities in your life.

55:42.515 --> 55:43.848
Focus on Galatians 2 20.

55:44.656 --> 55:48.790
Really think about the cross, study the cross, become an expert on the cross.

55:49.495 --> 55:53.410
Become an expert on Jesus, the person of Jesus, what actually transpired on the cross.

55:54.518 --> 55:59.290
Fill your spirit and your soul with that and that will activate the power.

56:00.034 --> 56:03.778
Remember your life is transformed how, by the renewing of your mind.

56:06.196 --> 56:07.610
I have been crucified with Christ.

56:08.098 --> 56:10.618
Let's all say that actually I've been crucified with Christ.

56:12.133 --> 56:17.859
I died to the law, I died to sin and I died to my sin nature.

56:19.111 --> 56:28.085
And he says and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me.

56:28.773 --> 56:33.478
You know, you'll often hear me say on the cross Jesus knew you, jesus thought of you.

56:34.456 --> 56:35.710
Jesus remembered your name.

56:36.474 --> 56:39.168
You said well, are you just being poetic and emotional, pastor?

56:39.188 --> 56:39.610
Why do you say that?

56:40.515 --> 56:43.110
I say that in part because of here how Paul words it.

56:44.077 --> 56:46.010
He doesn't say who loves me Present tense.

56:46.919 --> 57:01.949
He specifically said past tense who loved me in that moment, in that historic moment on the cross, when he took on your sin and gave you his righteousness, in that moment he loved you.

57:03.017 --> 57:04.790
He loves you perpetually all the time.

57:05.812 --> 57:12.565
But in that moment of the divine exchange that started at all, he loved you.

57:13.554 --> 57:16.870
Who loved me and gave himself for me?

57:18.073 --> 57:22.110
Let's all shout hallelujah, worship team coming up.

57:22.812 --> 57:24.336
Let me finish with two 21.

57:26.702 --> 57:31.183
Hallelujah, I do not set aside.

57:31.364 --> 57:32.610
The old King James says it better.

57:33.352 --> 57:36.041
He says I do not frustrate the grace of God.

57:37.253 --> 57:39.982
I do not set aside the grace of God.

57:40.913 --> 57:42.520
God's grace is everything.

57:46.673 --> 57:48.700
So I don't want to frustrate God's grace either.

57:49.512 --> 57:51.017
How do you frustrate God's grace?

57:51.258 --> 57:54.959
By being a mixing Judaizer, no mixture allowed.

57:57.435 --> 58:02.216
By looking to yourself, looking at yourself, look to yourself, look to Jesus.

58:03.439 --> 58:08.340
By trying no, yield, yield.

58:09.570 --> 58:14.783
Let the Holy Spirit empower you Been doing this a while.

58:14.850 --> 58:16.461
So I reckon we have a lot of new people.

58:17.166 --> 58:17.790
I know a lot of you.

58:17.890 --> 58:19.356
Your mind is on tilt right now.

58:20.030 --> 58:24.255
When I first, 20 years ago, started digging and uncovering these truths, it also messed me up.

58:25.410 --> 58:26.756
It's a radical thing to believe.

58:27.932 --> 58:32.962
But take the Lord's hand and do a deep dive of your own and realize we're on a journey.

58:35.593 --> 58:37.861
Paul said grace is a mystery.

58:38.915 --> 58:41.050
It's at times perplexing.

58:42.474 --> 58:45.810
It'll make you question so many of your belief system, so many of the ways you relate it to God.

58:47.321 --> 58:51.110
And yes, there is a danger to grace If it's not preached right, people can go off.

58:51.893 --> 58:58.710
Even Peter gives a warning, saying there are people who distort Paul's teaching, they misunderstand it to their own detriment, to their own demise.

58:59.652 --> 59:04.601
He's talking about the grace message, but that doesn't mean we back off of the thing that Jesus died for.

59:06.524 --> 59:22.210
Hallelujah, I do not frustrate the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through my behavior, my works, my good deeds, through my keeping of the law, then Christ died for nothing.

59:22.653 --> 59:25.089
Isn't that a brilliant thought.

59:26.674 --> 59:30.784
If you could fix you, then you would have fixed you already.

59:33.197 --> 59:38.210
Can you imagine all the suffering, the pain that Jesus went through, not just the physical but the perfect, being made sin?

59:38.291 --> 59:39.745
He's saying all that was for nothing.

59:41.233 --> 59:47.210
If you could get God to change his mind about you by trying to really be a good person, then why did he have to come?

59:48.237 --> 59:50.210
You either need a savior or you don't need a savior.

59:51.656 --> 59:55.210
But most people are like I need a savior a little bit, but I also got to help him shoulder the load.

59:56.093 --> 59:58.120
No, he did it all.

59:59.257 --> 01:00:01.210
You have the humble position of just receiving.
